Things are about to become quite interesting around Disney World — and not just because of all of the construction that’ll make the parks look totally different.
But, Disney just announced that the Virtual Queues for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT will be going away for good on February 25th, and that’s going to be a game-changer for plenty of reasons — especially since that means there will be no more VQs in Disney World. But, we don’t recommend getting used to that just yet…
As of February 25th, 2025, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will no longer require guests to use a Virtual Queue in order to ride. Instead, you’ll be able to join the regular standby queue anytime the ride is operating. Both rides have been using a Virtual Queue since they opened, with Cosmic Rewind having the distinction of being the one to use a VQ for the longest amount of time so far in Disney World.
And, while this sounds like welcome news (and trust us, we’re excited about it!), it doesn’t come without concerns. For one thing, Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are both extremely popular rides — with Cosmic Rewind being the most popular ride in EPCOT right now. Being able to hop into the standby line without having to worry about securing a spot in the Virtual Queue will mean a lot more folks have access to these rides at any given time… which means the wait times will likely skyrocket when these changes roll out.
Rope-dropping these rides will officially be an option now!
Plus, we definitely shouldn’t start celebrating the “end of Virtual Queues” in Disney World by any means. Virtual Queues are extremely helpful when it comes to managing demand for new and popular attractions. Any time Disney opens a new ride in recent history, a Virtual Queue is used. And, we don’t know if you’ve heard, but a TON of new rides will be opening up in Disney World over the next several years.
The new Tropical Americas-themed Pueblo Esperanza land in Animal Kingdom will feature an Encanto dark ride and an Indiana Jones ride that we’re expecting to use a VQ, along with the Monsters Inc. suspension coaster and revamped Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios.
Disney hasn’t even officially announced which rides will be coming to the new Villains Land in Magic Kingdom just yet, but we do know there will be two major attractions in this area, along with two new rides coming to the Cars area that will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.

There’s also a chance Disney could bring Virtual Queues back for when Test Track reopens after its lengthy refurbishment ends later this summer.

The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions.
So, while we don’t officially know when we’ll see Virtual Queues come back to Disney World, we’re pretty sure we haven’t seen the end of them yet!

One thing is for certain….New rides coming to Disney, are still YEARS in the making! By the time they come to fruition and open up to the public, they will be obsolete.
The standby wait times will be ridiculous because of lighting lanes. Do away with them, and standby wait times will be shorter. Or should I say the lines will go faster. But Disney won’t do that, because people still pay the ridiculously high prices for lighting lanes and Disney executives ONLY care about money and not the costumers….
