A LOT is happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Dinoland, U.S.A. has started its phased closing as Disney begins construction in that area on a brand NEW land, Pueblo Esperanza. It’s Tough To Be A Bug inside the Tree of Life will be closing soon to make way for a new show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Well, now, ANOTHER part of Animal Kingdom will be closing: the bat exhibit inside the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
According to the Disney World website, the bats exhibit will be closed for refurbishment on February 17th. However, Disney expects the area to reopen in early March, so hopefully, the closure won’t be for too long.
Disney’s bat exhibit includes one of the world’s largest species of bats, the flying foxes, also known as Malayan flying foxes. These bats are native to Asia and get their name from their fox-like features and reddish-black fur. These bats are unique in that they have excellent eyesight and a heightened sense of smell. They also love fruit, so can often be found foraging on the forest floor. Like other bats, though, they sleep hanging upside down.
In the meantime, you can see something NEW if you visit the Maharajah Jungle Trek. A baby tiger named Bakso can be seen in the tigers exhibit. He’s been so popular that long lines have formed for the walkthrough attraction. But just look at him…you can see WHY everyone is anxious to see this cute baby.

What’s your favorite animal to see in Animal Kingdom? Let us know in the comments!
Okay, I was scared there for a minute. I am sometimes among those ‘not wishing to see bats’ (one of my favorite Disney signs ever), but other times I muster the courage. I was afraid that one more classic element and memory our our trips to WDW was vanishing. My favorite animal(s) are the ones that it is hard to catch a glimpse of – Okapi, Eland, and I don’t think they are as hard to spot, but I love the Greater Kudu too.
I would LOVE THIS JOB! (retired school teacher). ?❤️?
My daughter, who is now 25, loves bats. The reason she loves bats is because of the display at animal Kingdom. Every time we came here, she would see the bats and learn about them and become a big fan of them.
