Are you planning your trip yet?

Cinderella Castle
It won’t shock you when we say we are Disney Adults! We love all things Disney, Universal, and theme parks. It’s the thing that gives us joy and fun throughout the year so we’re sharing our 6 reasons we’re requesting PTO in 2025!
Have you started scheduling your paid time off yet? Our PTO is something coveted in our lives so we like to plan how we want to use it well in advance. It seems like our PTO in 2025 will be spent in the theme parks to no one’s surprise starting with the biggest thing of all, Epic Universe!

Epic Universe is Universal Orlando’s newest theme park set to open on May 22nd, 2025. This new theme park will have 5 brand-new lands called Celestial Park, How To Train Your Dragon-Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Ministry of Magic. There will be over 50 new attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping options in the new parks.

We have spent months breaking down every detail of concept art, starting at construction from afar, and getting hyped for this new park. We plan on spending lots of time in this park hunting down every Easter Egg, trying all of the foods, buying the merchandise, and so much more.

The theme park will also be bringing the addition of 3 new hotels, one of which is already open. This new theme park is expected to change the theme park game and we are on the edge of our seats waiting for it to open.

We can’t wait to see the ins and outs of the newest Orlando theme park and if the concept art is to be believed, it’s safe to say this new park with be epic. (We know it’s cheese but we had to. Sorry!)

Outside of Universal’s major opening, Disney has some exciting stuff up its sleeve for 2025 too. This summer, we’re gearing up for the Test Track Reopening and you can bet our PTO will be used to test out the rethemed EPCOT attraction.

The reimaged ride will be themed to EPCOT’s classic and closed attraction, World of Motion which was previously in this location. The ride will include new show scenes that showcase technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone.

We don’t have tons of information on what to expect from this retheme just yet so we’re just going to take PTO from May to June and wait outside of the attraction just in case. Don’t wanna miss anything, ya know? Also over in EPCOT (and Magic Kingdom), we’ll be spending our PTO in some new Disney lounges!

©Disney
In 2025, EPCOT is getting a new Spaceship Earth Lounge! This lounge will be themed to the “intertwined history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT itself” and “celebrate the legacy of the icon’s past while admiring its future.”It’s expected to open in Spring 2025. If you’d rather spend your PTO in Magic Kingdom, there will be two new lounges there! First the new Disney Vacation Club Members lounge in Frontierland.

Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade will become the lounge!
A second lounge coming to Magic Kingdom is the Pirate Tavern! This tavern is themed to continuing the story of Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland and is expected to open in 2025 as well.

An all-new lounge themed to Pirates of the Caribbean will open at Magic Kingdom in 2025.

What is our PTO without some new shows though? Hollywood Studios is getting two new shows in 2025 and you can bet money we will be sat in those theaters. First is the new Disney Villains: Unhappily Ever After show which is going to bring your favorite Disney baddies to life while they share their stories and how they’re just misunderstood.

This show will feature Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil as the three main villains taking the stage. This show will be right next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in place of the former Lightning McQueen Racing Academy show. Hollywood Studios is also getting the new show The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure.

The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure
This new show is a revamped version of the previous Little Mermaid show that was in the same theater. The new show will feature puppetry, a larger role for Prince Eric, and the addition of “Kiss the Girl” which wasn’t in the previous version.

Both shows are expected to open in 2025 although neither has an official opening date at the time of writing. Since we’re using our PTO and we don’t have work the next day, we think we’re gonna watch the new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom too!

©Disney
In Summer 2025, Magic Kingdom is getting a brand-new nighttime parade called Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away! This parade will be “using the latest technology to tell new stories about the characters you love.”

A new nighttime parade “Disney Starlight” will come to Magic Kingdom in Summer 2025 using the latest technology to bring Disney stories to life and will feature moments from fan-favorite films like Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Peter Pan,” “Frozen” and “Encanto.”
It will feature characters from Enacnto, Peter Pan, Frozen, and Moana. The parade will be lit up by the Blue Fairy and we’ll even get to wave hi to a few Disney princesses along the way.

Finally, our beloved PTO will be spent enjoying two iconic Disney attractions one last time. (We won’t cry just yet.) In 2025, Dinosaur is expected to be a busy ride thanks to this being the final year we can get that dino! DinoLand U.S.A. has already begun part of its phased closures to make way for the new land, Pubelo Esperanza.

Dinosaur
We don’t know when this iconic Disney attraction will officially close but Disney did say that you can still ride Dinosaur and “get that dino” through 2025, hinting that this popular ride will be closing sometime in 2026. In Hollywood Studios, we will also be grabbing a pair of purple 3D glasses as often as we can over at MuppetVision 3D!

Muppet*Vision 3D
This show, along with the rest of Grand Avenue, will be closing permanently to make room for the new Monsters Inc. Land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante closes on May 10th, 2025 before MuppetVision 3D and PizzeRizzo close permanently on June 8th, 2025.

PizzeRizzo
The last day to enjoy the show and grab some puffy pizza will be on June 7th, 2025. We aren’t ready to say goodbye just yet so we will be using our time off to mourn and process these losses.

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.
We can’t wait to see how the theme park industry grows and changes this year with all of these exciting (and some sad) changes on the horizon. If you’re looking for us, you can find us in Orlando with a fun snack in our hands. Don’t forget to keep following DFB for all of your theme park news and updates.

Yup, we planned a last minute trip for next week to say goodbye to MuppetVision. We were going to combine with our visit in June to Epic Universe, but we would’ve kissed our chance if we had (gotta wait for school to let out for summer). Total bummer it’s closing.
