We are ALL about Disney food here at DFB. We have eaten everywhere in Disney World, and we aren’t stopping there! One of the best parts about Disney World is that things are constantly changing, and that also means new food is released all the time.
We are always stopping to try the newest and bluest food items that Disney World has created. Some are wins, while others fall short. However, there is one food trend that we are tired of seeing.
Disney went through a major blue phase during its 50th Anniversary Celebration with TONS of new snacks that all had some kind of blue on them. We also went through a croissant era with croissants being made with all sorts of fillings, including the Croissant Cookie, the PB & J Croissant, the Espresso Croissant, the Creme Brulee Croissant, and more.
Well, we are now well in the freeze-dried Skittles portion of Disney World’s history, and we are hoping it will be over soon. Freeze-dried Skittles have been making appearances on SO many treats. While we don’t particularly hate the little, puffy sugar morsels, we are ready for Disney to try something new. It’s just getting a bit repetitive.
You can find freeze-dried Skittles ALL OVER the place. They are on Krispie treats, cakes, caramel apples, drinks, Bundt cakes, and more. If it is a sweet item with a surface for putting freeze-dried Skittles, we have a feeling Disney World has probably tried putting them on top.
Some of the freeze-dried Skittles concoctions weren’t the greatest, like the Freeze-Dried Skittles Krispie Treat from the Main Street Confectionary. Chocolate and Skittles are not the perfect match, that’s for sure. However, some of the treats we also really enjoyed! For example, the Rainbow Cake from Figment’s Inspiration Station at The Odyssey made it on our best of the Festival of the Arts for kids.
We know these babies are trendy right now. Freeze dried candy is, in general. However, we are a bit tired of seeing freeze-dried Skittles everywhere we look in the parks. We would love to see some more creative toppings and innovative ideas. We want to be impressed, and we think Disney can do it!
While we may be over the freeze-dried Skittles trend at Disney World, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t lots of amazing food at Disney World. We eat Disney food for a living, and we want to share all our tips with you. Make sure you check out our ultimate guide to the BEST food in Disney World:

lol! We met the woman who invented these at the bar at Topolinos on one of our last trips (April 2024). She was apparently at regular on Galactic Starcruiser. I think it’s hysterical that she actually got them onto menus in the parks. Grassroots gorilla marketing for sure.
Disney is probably trying to get rid of their Skittles supply being that they may be banned due to their food coloring!
