When people think of Disney World, a lot of folks picture Magic Kingdom.
It was the original Disney theme park built in Florida, so we get why that’s the case — there’s nothing like walking down Main Street, U.S.A. toward Cinderella Castle and really taking it all in. But, Disney has to enforce some rules in order to keep everyone safe in the parks — and these might be the most unexpected ones!
According to the rules listed on the official website, these items are BANNED from Disney World — but for good reason!
Wagons
Strollers are more than welcome in Disney World, so you might think that wagons are too. After all, they’re pretty clutch when it comes to carting not only kids around — but snacks and souvenirs as well. But, DON’T go packing that wagon in your car just yet because chances are, it’s banned from the parks.
You can get a medical exemption from Guest Services if your kiddo can’t use a regular stroller and is only able to use a wagon, but in most cases, you won’t be able to get your wagon into the park. You also should consider measuring your stroller to make sure it fits into Disney’s stroller size guidelines before getting to the parks and realizing it’s too large!
Everything You Need to Know About Stroller Rentals in Disney World
Folding Chairs
We know how tempting it might sound to bring one of those portable folding chairs or stools with you to the parks, but you’ll be turned away at the gate or forced to toss it if you do! When you’re standing in an hour-long line at Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, whipping out a chair or stool sounds like a great idea.
But, space is pretty darn limited in the queues (hence the long lines), and with thousands upon thousands of visitors in the parks every day, Disney doesn’t want random chairs placed in the middle of everything — THAT would be a chaotic situation.
The Best Places to Escape in Disney World When You Need a Break
Glass Containers
This one is pretty logical, but with the rising popularity of glass tumblers and water bottles to replace plastic ones, we feel the need to mention it anyway! You’ll need to leave those glass containers at home or in your car when you visit Disney World — except for jars of baby food, which are still allowed!
This rule exists for the same reason you won’t find glass beer bottles or wine glasses in the parks unless you’re at a Table Service restaurant. Broken glass and crowded theme parks don’t mix well! Instead, consider bringing a stainless steel or plastic water bottle or container with you into the parks to stay hydrated!
Tripods and Selfie Sticks
This one hits especially close to home since we do a lot of filming and photography in the parks, but you’ll have to leave those selfie sticks and large tripods at home. These items are banned from the parks! Disney’s official rules state that tripods and monopods taller than six feet are officially banned.
According to Disney, selfie sticks can become a hazard — especially on rides or in large crowds. Smaller tripods are allowed since they don’t interfere quite as much in places like parades or fireworks shows. Luckily, Disney has plenty of PhotoPass photographers to capture your memories!
Shoes with Wheels
It’s probably no surprise that skateboards, inline and roller skates, and scooters are banned from Disney World — but that extends to shoes with wheels (like Heelys) as well! Again, this one goes back to safety — wheels in crowds can be dangerous and that goes for shoes with them too.
Trust us, we get it — we’d love to be able to zoom from Point A to Point B in the parks with the help of some wheels, but for your safety and the safety of those around you, leave the Heelys at home! We know how cool you look in them, but save some coolness for the rest of us.

Too bad cast members don’t enforce the selfie stick rule anymore, at Disneyworld, I have seen several, especially in lines of rides. They are a nuisance and dangerous. I feel the cast members don’t enforce a lot of rules anymore. It’s a free for all. No class anymore.
We were in Disney World a week ago and saw many of the items you mentioned.
Oversized side by side strollers
Wagons
Selfie sticks
We have been going for years and I was aware of these rules.
I was shocked at the violations I saw.
