If you plan on visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, you may know that some experiences there require reservations.
This includes Oga’s Cantina (in case you want to visit a bar in a galaxy far, far away), the lightsaber-building experience at Savi’s Workshop, and the droid-building experience Droid Depot. However, one of these experiences, Droid Depot, will soon no longer take reservations, although walk-ups will still be welcome.
If you visit the page on the Disneyland website for Droid Depot, you’ll see a message that reservations will no longer be accepted as of March 17th, 2025. However, the page does say that walk-ups are still welcome, so it seems that this experience will only be taking walk-ups after that date.
Droid Depot is an experience where you can create a custom working droid with parts available in the shop. You can choose between creating a custom BB-series unit or an R-series unit. Once you’ve registered your choice with a Cast Member, you’ll be given a basket and blueprint for parts. Then you just pick out the parts that fit your droid at the parts stations and put it all together. For $99.99 per astromech droid unit, plus tax, you get the droid, a carry box, and instructions. You can also add a personality chip and other accessories for an additional fee.
Now that reservations are no longer available, you might find yourself waiting in line at the experience, so if it’s a priority for your Disneyland trip, you’ll probably want to head to Droid Depot as soon as it opens on the morning of your Disneyland visit.

Have you ever done this experience in Disneyland? Let us know what you thought about it in the comments!
Every time I’ve gone, the place has been empty. They’re getting rid of reservations because no one was reserving time. I reserved a time slot for my oldest kid, not realizing how unbusy the place was, and we were the only ones in there in the middle of the afternoon. Our next trip, I’m just walking up when we fee like it (youngest kid wants to do one now). Also helps that the whole experience takes about 10 mins so turnover rate is fast.
It’s never been crowded and it isn’t much of an experience. Also, they don’t help very much when you can’t get the pieces to go together right and often don’t have any real selection of some of the pieces and colors. I doubt they get much repeat business.
In contrast, Savi’s workshop provides a real “experience”, they’re always ready to encourage and assist, and they make the entire thing memorable. Can you tell I’ve gone there multiple times?
Our son built a droid and a light saber. I felt that both experiences were rushed to get the next person in.
