We saw some great new rides debut in 2024, but 2025 may be an even bigger year for new attractions!
Last year, we saw several new attractions pop up at major theme parks all over the world as well as the promise of great new rides and lands opening in the future. As we head deeper into 2025, we can’t help but get excited about the future of the theme park industry and some highly-anticipated attractions that are slated to open THIS YEAR!
Orlando is often called The Theme Park Capital of the World, so it makes sense that several new rides coming to the area in 2025 are making our list. With Universal Orlando’s brand-new Epic Universe opening VERY soon, you can expect to see some highly-anticipated Universal attractions make this list. However, there are a few surprises that we’ve included, so read ahead to see what are Top 10 most anticipated new rides of 2025 are!
*Of note, this list is in no particular order.*
Falcon’s Flight
Saudi Arabia is opening a new $1 billion Six Flags Qiddiya City this year and it will be home to eight roller coasters, including the highly-anticipated Falcon’s Flight. This coaster is slated to go up to 155 mph with a maximum height of 640 feet, making it the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world.
With the promise of such a thrilling experience, this is a coaster that won’t be missing from coaster enthusiasts’ lists.
Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
Going stateside, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment at Epic Universe will be the signature attraction of the Dark Universe Portal. Located in the facade of Frankenstein Manor, this ride’s official synopsis from Universal reads, “Dr. Victoria Frankenstein continues the work of her ancestors deep below the family estate. A demonstration of her experiments to control monsters goes awry when Dracula leads a revolt of enraged monsters including The Wolf Man, The Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and more.”
This dark ride promises to “defy what you think of a theme park attraction” with a ride system that is rumored to be similar to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Universal also claims that the ride will have the most technologically advanced animated figures ever built, featuring 14 animatronics in total.
Animatronics include massive fast-moving depictions of Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Curse of the Werewolf
Staying in Dark Universe, Curse of the Werewolf will be a spinning family coaster themed to The Wolf Man. Per the official synopsis, guests will enter the Guild of Mystics and be “greeted by Maleva, the guild’s all-knowing seer and leader, who warns them that they bear the mark of the werewolf.”
Expect some thrills as you “venture into the forest, racing to escape the werewolves” lest you become one yourself!
Stardust Racers
Another Epic Universe attraction is making our list, this time over in Celestial Park! Stardust Racers will be Epic Universe’s new dual-launch racing coaster that takes passengers soaring through the air after both vehicles launch simultaneously and proceed to race.
This new coaster seeks to combine the nostalgic feel of a wooden roller coaster with the 360 immersive experience of the Celestial Spin, reaching speeds up to 62 miles per hour as it journeys along a 5,000-foot track that gets up to 133 feet high.
The actual ride vehicles will resemble comets and will be fully illuminated at night as they “race along an inverted crisscross, known as the ‘Celestial Spin’ in a dazzling display of blazing colors and ethereal music.” For fans missing The Wizarding World’s previous dueling coaster Dragon Challenge, this ride is a welcome addition to the resort.
Test Track
Over at EPCOT, Test Track closed last year for a lengthy refurbishment that would see the popular attraction get a retheme.
Scheduled to reopen in late summer, the newest version of Test Track will be its third version of the attraction and will feature a “new storyline” built around “a joy ride through scenes focusing on onboard technology, customization and personalization. Followed by a trip through a scenic outdoor route reminding us all of the joys of driving, taking in the world around us and spending quality time with friends and family.”
Additionally, Disney teased that the new version of the ride will have some Easter eggs referring to World of Motion, the OG attraction that debuted on the opening day of EPCOT.
Mine-Cart Madness
Back at Epic Universe, we’re headed over to Super Nintendo World and Donkey Kong Country with anticipation for the new Mine-Cart Madness family coaster!
Riders will hop into a mine cart and help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong protect the golden banana as they get shot out of a barrel, jump over gaps, and experience a ride solely unique to Universal Orlando, at least in the United States. Notably, this coaster is already famous for its illusion of jumping over sections of missing and broken tracks.
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
Our next three attractions are located at Epic Universe in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. First up is Hiccup’s Wing Gliders!
This family thrill coaster will have riders join Hiccup to test out “his latest glider contraption” and feel what it’s like to fly with a dragon.
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders will reach speeds up to 45 mph as it takes passengers around the perimeter of the land and across the lagoon.
Fyre Drill
Next up is Fyre Drill, an interactive boat ride battle.
Join Ruffnut and Tuffnut as you trek down Berk’s Fyre Skööl where you protect the town against fire-breathing dragons! You’ll get to “blast water cannons at flame-like targets to practice putting out fires – a crucial skill to master when living with dragons.”
Universal has teased that you will get soaked as you compete with the other side of your boat in this interactive adventure.
Dragon Racer’s Rally
Dragon Racer’s Rally is a unique thrill ride where you get to train to become a Champion Dragon Racer!
Per Universal, you’ll get to “practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on two Viking-made dragon-riding trainers that reach heights of up to 67 feet in the air.”
You control your ride experience, choosing how “wild or mild” it is.
Wild Oasis
Our last pick is a family-friendly attraction at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: Wild Oasis. Opening in spring 2025, Wild Oasis promises to “entertain, educate, and inspire.”
With Wild Oasis, you’ll get to “step into Habitat Hideaway, an all-new multispecies habitat where guests can encounter capybaras, giant anteaters, squirrel monkeys, and a variety of tropical birds. Set in a lush, natural environment, the habitat will offer unique viewing perspectives from both ground-level and aerial viewpoints, providing visitors with an up-close experience with these fascinating animals.”
Wild Oasis attractions include:
- Tree Top Drop: A 35-foot drop tower featuring an immersive multimedia experience.
- Canopy Climb: A 4-level, 200 feet of horizontal climbing trail attraction with vertical climbs reaching 45 feet high.
- Enchanted Falls: An interactive splash pad and play area.
- Rainforest Quest: A self-guided educational scavenger hunt where you’ll learn more about nature and the species that inhabit the rainforest.
