Dining at Disney World is more than just refueling. It’s an experience.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned as a Disney food expert, it’s this: don’t skip the appetizers. Appetizers aren’t just filler before the main course. They’re often some of the most creative and flavorful dishes on the menu. They’re shareable, making them perfect for a group, and they set the stage for what’s to come. Whether you’re looking to try something adventurous or simply want a little taste of something magical, appetizers are the unsung heroes of Disney dining. So, let’s dive into eight Disney appetizers you absolutely need to have on your table. Trust me. These dishes will turn your meal into a culinary highlight reel.
Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier
We had to start off this list with an absolute Disney World classic – Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPOCT. This creamy, dreamy appetizer is a Disney classic for good reason. Made with cheddar cheese, beer, and a hint of bacon, it’s the ultimate comfort food
The soup is so delicious that it even makes an appearance at EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival. Pro tip: make sure to use the bread on the side for dipping. You’ll thank me later

Poutine from Le Cellier
While we’re talking about Le Cellier, if comfort food is your love language, Le Cellier’s Poutine has you covered. This Canadian-inspired dish takes hand-cut fries, piles on cheese curds, and then smothers it all in a rich Cabernet demi-glace
It’s salty, cheesy, and oh-so-indulgent. Whether you’re grabbing a pre-steak snack or need a little pick-me-up after strolling around EPCOT, this dish is pure perfection.

Guacamole from Rosa Mexicano
Sometimes, simplicity is best – and the fresh-made guacamole at Rosa Mexicano proves it. Served with warm tortilla chips and a roasted tomato salsa, this guac is all about big, fresh flavors.
Made table-side, the guacamole is a perfect balance of creamy avocado and zesty lime. It’s ideal for sharing (or not). Honestly, I wouldn’t blame you if you kept this one all to yourself.

Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites from Wine Bar George
As you know, Disney Springs has no shortage of incredible food, but the Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites at Wine Bar George are a must-try. These golden nuggets of cheesy heaven are fried to perfection and served with a tomato nage and pecorino for a little added flair.
The light, crispy breading combined with the gooey, creamy mac and cheese center just make them so delicious. Oh, and did I mention you can grab them to-go? That’s right. You can pick them up from The Basket (Wine Bar George’s quick-service counter) and snack on these while wandering Disney Springs.

Hummus Fries at Spice Road Table
If you’re craving something unique, head to Spice Road Table in EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion for their Hummus Fries. These aren’t your average fries. They’re made from spiced chickpea batter and served with a citrus-chipotle sauce and preserved lemon.
The texture is spot-on crispy, and the bold flavors make these fries unforgettable. They’re perfect for adventurous eaters, or anyone looking to try something a little different from your usual appetizer fare.

Pimento Cheese Fritters from Boatwright’s Dining Hall
Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans – Riverside takes things up a notch with their Pimento Cheese Fritters. These little bites are crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and topped with a pepper jelly that brings a perfect sweet-heat combo.
If you’re looking for a hidden gem, this is it. Also, you don’t have to be staying at the resort to make the trek for these beauties. And while you’re there, you might consider pairing them with a plate of Mickey Beignets. You’re welcome.

Indian-Style Bread Service from Sanaa
Over at Sanaa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Indian-Style Bread Service is always on-point. This isn’t just bread. It’s definitely an interactive, flavor-packed experience. You’ll get five different types of bread paired with nine accompaniments, ranging from sweet mango chutney to spicy jalapeño-lime pickle.
Now, the magic of this dish lies in the mix-and-match possibilities. Feeling daring? Pair garlic naan with the tamarind sauce. Prefer a milder combo? Go for plain naan and cucumber raita. No matter what, it’s a perfect way to start your meal.

Thigh High Chicken Biscuits from Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is known for its fried chicken, and the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits prove why. These fluffy biscuits are topped with fried chicken thighs, bread-and-butter pickles, and a drizzle of hot honey that ties everything together.
You know, these aren’t just appetizers. They’re borderline meal-worthy. But if you’re in the mood to share, they’ll kick off your meal with a bang

Which appetizer is your favorite at Disney World? Tell us all about it in the comments below!
After trying the Cheddar Cheese soup several times over the years, I decided no more. I find it to be a salt bomb. So, if you are sensitive to food that is salty. Don’t get this. OK, get it once and then decide yourself. LOL
Sorry you ran out of room in the article Tony’s Town Square restaurant for the Tony’s Garlic Bread for the Table. As you have said before it is the greatest of all appetizers.
