When people talk about the weather at Disney World, it is often about the hot summers and how to stay cool during your trip. However, even though Florida is known for its warmer weather, it still gets cold at Disney World.
You won’t be surrounded by multiple feet of snow, but there will be days in the winter month when you will feel a chill in the air. Make sure you are prepared with the proper clothing, but also be prepared for some unexpected closures that may occur due to cold weather.
Most of Disney World remains operating in cold weather. You will see the water parks close down when the weather gets chilly. However, did you know that cold weather can also affect some Disney World restaurants?
While in Disney World during the recent cold snap, we happened across a closed-down Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Geyser Point is an outdoor dining location that offers a rustic and cozy setting to enjoy a drink, hearty appetizers, or full entrees.
Geyser Point offers a fireplace for cool evenings, but when we stopped by, we discovered it was closed due to the cold weather. The restaurant is completely outdoors, so we could see why Disney might decide to temporarily close it. It likely wouldn’t be a super popular spot if you needed to bundle up to be able to enjoy your food and drink.
While we could see why Disney might make the decision to close down an outdoor dining location, it can be frustrating if you had your heart set on getting a meal there. That is why we wanted to let you know that there might be unexpected closures during your trip.
Rides may be closed due to technical issues, the water parks may close due to cold weather, and some outdoor dining locations may also temporarily close due to the weather. Don’t let an unexpected closure ruin your trip, though; there is SO much to do at Disney World, and who knows, an unexpected closure might lead you to something even better!

I read the article title 3 times and I’m still confused. Which hotel was closed?
Hi Sue. Geyser Point was closed inside Wilderness Lodge, but it wasn’t the entire resort, just that part of the resort.
