Disney World’s pay-to-skip the line service has seen so many different changes in less than a year that it can be hard to keep up.
Over the summer, Genie+ transitioned into Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lane transitioned into Lightning Lane Single Pass. While the new Lightning Lane system offers guests a way to pay to skip the line, a few tweaks were made by allowing reservations and purchases to be made in advance, and tiers, similar to those used with the FastPass+ system were brought back. Well not too long ago, Disney added a third Lightning Lane option and the rules have once again changed, but it is good news!
Disney released a newer version of Lightning Lane called Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This pass allows you to pay a one time fee to access every Lightning Lane within one park, one time without having to reserve a timeslot. This service comes with a hefty price tag and fluctuates based on demand. On average, it is most expensive to use the service in Magic Kingdom and cheapest in Animal Kingdom. You can view prices 21 days in advance.
Here is a look at the price range per park:
- Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax
- EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax
When this service first debuted at the end of October 2024, only those staying at a Disney World Deluxe Resort could purchase it. It was sold in limited quantities.
At the end of November 2024, Disney changed the rules once again. Anyone staying at a Disney World Resort including Value and Moderate Resorts could purchase this limited Lightning Lane pass.
And yet another rule change has been made. As of January 21st, 2025, anyone visiting Disney World regardless of if they are staying at a Disney World hotel or not can purchase Ligthing Lane Premier Pass, making it even easier to use!
The same booking rules apply for Premier Pass as they do for Multi and Single Pass. Those staying at a Disney World hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, and Shades of Green, can purchase Lighting Lane Premier Pass (as well as Multi and Single Pass) seven days prior to their trip. All others can book three days prior. It is important to note that quantities are still limited.
The Disney World website still says that Premier Pass is being piloted so there could be more changes made in the future. We will continue to be on the lookout for any changes, so make sure to continue to follow along with DFB!
