People from all over the world come to visit Disney World, and that was one of my favorite things about being a Cast Member. I got to meet people from all over the place, and it was so exciting to learn from the guests, listen to their stories, and hear from them about their experience at Disney World. The people really made the job, and I am so thankful for everyone who I was able to connect with.
Before we get too far into this post, I want to say that while I noticed these things about a lot of Americans, that does not mean that they ring true for every American. You may not even be American, and these things could describe you! I am hoping to keep this post lighthearted, so please don’t take anything I write too seriously!
One of the biggest things I noticed about Americans at Disney World is that they often had shorter vacations planned than others who were traveling from other parts of the world. Of course, that makes sense as people who are traveling from other parts of the world often have a longer trip to get to Disney World in the first place. If you are having to fly for 8 hours, you may as well spend a decent amount of time at Disney World. Although even if you aren’t traveling from far away, I still think you should spend as much time at Disney World as you can!
A lot of times, Americans come to Disney World on school breaks and American holidays, which often means that they aren’t able to spend as much time. Plus, when it isn’t as far of a trip, it can be easier to stay for a shorter amount of time. There are definitely still plenty of Americans who plan longer trips to Disney World, but it is definitely easier for Americans to plan shorter trips than those who are traveling from farther away.
I also noticed that Americans are definitely coffee fiends. Of course, they aren’t the only ones who need coffee in the morning to survive, but I feel like it has been kind of ingrained as part of our culture. Americans like to start the day with coffee, and you will see the evidence as long lines form at Starbucks and Joffrey’s in the mornings!
I have also noticed that Americans tend to like a bigger breakfast in the morning. In other cultures, breakfast can be a lighter meal, but Americans often crave hearty meals like eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc. The good news is that there are breakfast locations to meet what you are craving! Whether you want a hearty breakfast buffet or you just want a cup of tea and a pastry, you can find a place in Disney World.
Another thing that I noticed about Americans is that you will probably see a lot of sports jerseys pop up in the parks when big games are happening. I always thought it was fun to see which team had more representation on a game day, plus they were always really excited to talk about their teams. And as someone who isn’t a huge fan of sports, it helped keep me up to date on the sports world!
I loved getting to work at Disney World, and these are just a few of my observations. I am sure there are plenty more as each person that visits Disney World is unique. The next time you are in line, don’t be afraid to try to get to know someone near you, you never know who you might meet or what you might learn.

I must be a closet European. My last Disney stay was 10 days long (I drove from Illinois), I came in the middle of May, I hate coffee and I have a protein bar for breakfast. And I don’t follow sports- I was so happy when they offered an alternative Disney+ Bundle with Max and I could ditch ESPN.
I usually travel by myself. I’ve met people from all over the world at WDW. Had so many interesting conversations!
I’m English.
Those of us from the UK have longer trips, not only because it makes sense when you have to travel so far, but because we have longer holiday entitlement at work. The minimum holiday for a full time worker by law is 20 days. Many are on much more because of the type of job or length of service. When I chat to Americans and say I’ve been to WDW 30 times they often say that they’ve been 100 times. However, it often turns out that their trips have been for 3 days and ours have been for 2-3 weeks so we have actually been more days than they have.
As for Americans drinking coffee, whilst buying breakfast in Starbucks in Epcot a couple of years ago, the cashier said he could always tell the people from the UK by what they order. Regardless of just how hot Florida is, we always order hot drinks!
