Disney World has been experiencing some cold weather recently, and while it is the perfect weather to enjoy some hot drinks while exploring the parks, not all rides are the perfect match for cool weather.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure can be a refreshing relief in the middle of a Florida summer, but when you are soaked and walking around in cool weather, it can get rather uncomfortable.
The ride offers plenty of thrill as you head down the 50-foot drop, but as you feel the cold water splash your body, you may regret your decision. Is there a secret to not getting soaked on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Let’s find out!
We gained some insight from a Cast Member at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World about the secret way to avoid getting soaked while experiencing the attraction. Contrary to what many people might believe, there is no way for the Cast Members on the attraction to “turn down” the splash, but the Cast Member we spoke to did provide one way to get less wet.
They recommended requesting a seat in the back. The water cannons that go off when the log goes down the hill don’t actually get riders wet at all. In fact, the riders are getting wet purely from the momentum of the log hitting the water after the hill.
The main reason that some logs get soaked while others remain relatively dry has everything to do with the amount of weight in the log. The heavier the log, the more water will end up inside the log on the drop. That is why the Cast Member recommended requesting a seat in the back if you are hoping to avoid getting soaked.
Of course, sitting in the back won’t mean you won’t get wet at all. And depending on how much weight is in the log, you may still be wearing quite a bit of bayou water on your clothes.
So, while requesting a seat in the back might result in you being less soaked after the ride, don’t count on it to keep you dry. Also, keep in mind that while Cast Members try their best to accommodate row requests, they won’t always be able to grant your request. Ask nicely and be prepared that the Cast Member may be unable to seat you in the back.
If you choose to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you will want to be prepared to leave soaking wet. However, embrace the fun AND the wetness.

Simple. Wear a poncho. We never get wet and tuck our feet when we go down
This is what ponchos were made for.
If you don’t want to get wet on the water ride, maybe don’t ride it? Crazy idea, I know.
A few years ago we came off Splash Mountain completely dry without having to do anything special. Great result! We then went on Pirates of the Caribbean and came off it completely soaked! What a twist!
The beast way of not getting soak on this ride don’t go on it LOL.
