It’s time to put on your acting shoes!

Hello from Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
There is so much happening in Disney World from new shows to iconic land closures and nighttime parades returning to light up the night! If you want to get in on all the fun, it’s finally your time to shine. We have an update on Hollywood Studios’s most villainous new show and how you can be a part of it.
Disney Villains: Unhappily Ever After is the brand-new show heading to Hollywood Studios, and it’s bringing all of the evil laughs with it! This stage show is expected to hit the theme park in the Summer of 2025, and construction is well underway.

The show will bring the Disney villains to life thanks to the Magic Mirror, who has summoned some of Disney’s most wicked characters to break through the glass and tell us why they’ve been so misunderstood throughout the years! Based on the concept art, you’ll be able to spot over 50 villains throughout the staging, with Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent taking center stage.

Speaking of Maleficent, Disney is looking to see who can fill the evilly gorgeous headpiece of this iconic baddie because they have officially posted the casting call! Over on the Disney Careers website, we spotted the listing for Maleficent. We first spotted this part listed in November 2024 beside the Captain Hook and Cruella de Vil roles but it’s looking like they still need their mean green queen. Does this mean the other two roles have been filled? We can’t know for sure, but it’s exciting to think we’re one step closer to this show opening!

The role calls for a female presenting performer who is between 5’10 and 6’1. The listing reminds those auditioning that this villain is the “mistress of evil” who “prides herself on being the epitome of villainy. With her powerful magic and vengeful demeanor, Maleficent will do anything to ensure her will is carried out.”

We also noticed that this current listing states this is a non-singing role, which is a switch up from the previous description when it was listed with the other two lead roles, which listed “basic vocals and musciality skills preferred”.

If you’re looking to audition for the role of Maleficent, the online submissions are open until February 1st, 2025, at 11:30 PM. It’s a two-step audition process where you upload your audition video before checking in to complete your submission. If you think this role is for you, Disney also posted the audition monologue so you can practice before filming your tape.

Want to give it a try? For the audition monologue, Disney wrote, “Well, well….quite a glittering assemblage we have here, this evening. And dressed in such festive, holiday attire. My, my, we have royalty….nobility….the gentry….and, how quaint, even the rabble! I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation to tonight’s festivities. I am sure it was merely due to some….oversight. (More angered) Hear me when I say, you shall not get the best of me again. Remember…I am the mistress of all evil! You should be wise to never forget it!”

This show is taking the place of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy on Sunset Boulevard behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which is also going to be rethemed! Villains are taking over in a major way as we’re also expecting the new Villains Land to take shape in Magic Kingdom eventually. We are really eager to see all of our favorite villains up on stage and to see what the show becomes. If you’re auditioning, break a leg, and don’t forget to keep following DFB for more!
