Another day, another Disney treat review roundup! This time, we’re heading to Disneyland where some exciting new snacks have popped up throughout the park.
Whether you’re after something sweet or something savory, Disneyland has it all. Come with us to check out four NEW eats at Disneyland!
We’re kicking this snack-stravaganza off at Royal Street Veranda with the Snack-size Mardi Gras Monte Cristo. This is a deep-fried Monte Cristo Sandwich filled with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, dusted with Mardi Gras powdered sugar with a side of jam for $11.49.
Oh my, this is something special. The protein here is delicious and goes together beautifully as a sandwich, but the stars here are the batter and jam. The crunch, and we’re not kidding when we say this, is flawless — it was crispy and light, and paired with the powdered sugar makes this almost like a funnel cake sandwich. It’s not overly sweet or overpowering either. It’s actually found the perfect blend between sweet and savory. The jam is phenomenal and while the sandwich doesn’t need it, it’s so elevated by the jam. There are even bits of real strawberry in it, giving it such a natural flavor. We honestly can’t recommend this enough. We hope this stays on the menu, it just may be the best thing at Royal Street Veranda right now.
Next, we headed to Award Wieners to try the Deep-fried Pineapple made with chocolate-dipped Pineapple fried in corn dog batter for $7.99.
The chocolate dominates the pineapple here and makes it too subtle. The whole snack is like eating a chocolate corn dog without the dog. It’s not overly rich, but it’s heavy which made us want to take very small bites. The powdered sugar is a nice touch, but not really enough to make that much of a difference. The chocolate really just overpowers every flavor here. We don’t know how we feel about the pineapple and chocolate combination. We don’t love it, and we don’t hate it. It’s just ok, especially since the pineapple gets lost.
At Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, we tried the PB&J Split. It’s made with chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream, peanut butter sauce, hot fudge, strawberry topping, peanuts, whipped cream, and waffle cone pieces for $11.29.
There is a lot going on here, but somehow, it works — unless you really want peanut butter. This tastes more like a Neapolitan split with peanuts. We love the waffle cone pieces, and together with the peanuts, they create a nice crunch texture. The fudge is delicious and goes so well with the peanut butter sauce to give this a thicker texture. The strawberry topping was applied liberally and just added to the smorgasbord of flavors. We think folks who want a taste of everything should get this. It’s an explosion of flavor, so avoid it if you crave subtly or uniformity. This thing is chaos (in a good way). The banana and cherry were fresh; and it delivers on all its promises and while it won’t revolutionize splits, it does it very well.
Finally, we stopped by Cozy Cone Motel 1 for the Key Lime Pie Churro. This is a classic churro rolled in vanilla cookie sugar with key lime whipped topping for $6.99.
The vanilla cookie sugar is the standout here and tastes nice, but that whipped topping is so artificial and tart. It’s also foamy in texture. We don’t hate it but wow does it make you pucker. It’s super strong and doesn’t stay on the churro since it’s practically a solid. The churro itself tastes like a Disneyland churro, which is a good thing, and it’s liberally dusted. The combination of everything together was a bit too much and we found it too sweet. When the key lime gets trapped in the churro ridges and is more like a topping instead of a foam glob, it tastes better. We’ve definitely had better Disneyland churros!

There definitely isn’t enough pineapple for that Deep-Fried Pineapple! Pineapple with a hot chocolate fondue was unexpectedly delicious when I tried it at an event I worked at. Judging by the photo, there needs to be three pieces of pineapple to balance out all that chocolate and the batter.
