Planning a Disney World trip in 2025?
There are a few BIG updates you absolutely need to know before packing your Minnie ears and hitting Main Street, U.S.A., and they’re the kind that are shaking up the park experience, so let’s break it all down for you.
Test Track Is Getting a Makeover
EPCOT’s Test Track is gearing up for its third version, and it sounds like it’ll be a game-changer. The new iteration, dubbed “Test Track 3.0”, will feature a completely reimagined storyline focusing on a “joy ride” that highlights onboard technology, customization, and the thrill of driving. Plus, it’s set to include some exciting easter eggs and nods to the original World of Motion ride, which once stood in Test Track’s location.
Here’s the scoop:
- The ride will include a scenic outdoor route to remind us of the simple joys of driving and quality time with loved ones.
- You might catch glimpses of cars testing the updated track in the early parts of 2025.
- The official reopening is slated for late summer 2025.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or it’s your first ride, this revamped Test Track seems poised to deliver an experience that’s fresh, innovative, and brimming with nostalgia.
TRON Lightcycle / Run No Longer Requires a Virtual Queue
For all the thrill-seekers out there, here’s some fantastic news: TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom no longer uses a Virtual Queue system! That’s right, this high-speed, futuristic coaster has already transitioned to a regular standby line.
This change means you can hop in line whenever it suits you (as long as you’re okay with potentially longer waits). For those who prefer planning, keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to track wait times and strategize your day accordingly.
Virtual Queues Are Still a Thing…but for Different Rides
While TRON’s Virtual Queue is gone, don’t think you’re totally done with this system just yet. In 2025, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind still require a Virtual Queue.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Virtual Queue spots fill up FAST, so make sure you’re ready to snag one as soon as the system opens each day.
- If you missed a Virtual Queue spot on your first try, remember you can also try again when the second drop opens later in the day.
So, you’ll want to practice setting alarms and refreshing your app skills now. Trust us, you’ll thank yourself when your Disney day goes off without a hitch.
New (and Maybe Temporary) Single Rider Lines
Single riders, rejoice! Disney World has quietly been using single-rider lines at these two attractions: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This is huge, especially for solo park-goers or anyone looking to cut down on wait times. Here’s the catch though: Disney hasn’t confirmed whether these single-rider lines are permanent or just being tested, so take advantage while you can.
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: Located in EPCOT’s France Pavilion, this ride has seen notoriously long standby waits since its debut. A single-rider line could make hopping aboard your rat-mobile MUCH easier.
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: This Hollywood Studios fan favorite is one of the most immersive attractions Disney has ever created, and one of the hardest to get on. A single-rider option could save you a lot of waiting.
If you’re traveling with a group, keep in mind that using the single-rider line means you’ll likely be split up. But hey, shorter wait times might just be worth it.
What This Means for Your 2025 Disney Trip
With so many changes happening in 2025, keep these tips in mind (and write them down if you have to!):
- Stay Updated: Keep an eye on Disney’s announcements, especially about Test Track’s reopening and the status of those single-rider lines.
- Practice Your Virtual Queue Skills: Whether it’s for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Cosmic Rewind, being quick on the draw is key to scoring your spot.
- Plan Strategically: If you’re tackling TRON or any other standby rides, check wait times frequently and be flexible with your schedule.
- Take Advantage of Single-Rider Lines: Even if they’re temporary, they could save you serious time on your must-do list.
