Disney has officially filed permits to demolish TriceraTop Spin and Fossil Fun Games.

Dinoland U.S.A.
DinoLand U.S.A. is set for extinction soon and the first steps are underway with the first closures beginning on January 12th, 2025. Now we have confirmation that the attractions will be demolished thanks to the official Notice of Commencement filed by Walt Disney Imagineering on January 7th, 2025.
DinoLand U.S.A.’s time is coming to a close and we can’t believe it’s already time to say goodbye. Well, almost! 2025 is the final year to go get that dino over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a phased closing happening throughout the year. We’ve known for quite some time that DinoLand’s days were numbered but it was confirmed in August 2024 at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event in Anaheim.

DinoLand U.S.A
Disney has shared that guests will be able to enjoy the ride Dinosaur throughout 2025 by sharing, “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” DinoLand is being reimagined into Tropical Americas which will use inspiration from Encanto and Indiana Jones.

This land will be called Pueblo Esperanza! Disney has confirmed there will be two major attractions in this new land. There will be an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! As fans of Encanto and the Indiana Jones ride over in Disneyland, we are really eager to see what Disney does with these attractions.

Within the land, we will also see a gorgeous carousel and new dining and shopping options. With the filing of these permits and the closures beginning in just a few days, it’s officially time to start waving a sorrowful goodbye to the land that has been with us since 1998. Don’t forget that TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will all close on January 12th, 2025.

Finally. This land should have been demolished at least 5 years ago and should have already had something new. This land feels like a run down run of the mill fairgrounds. It’s like the imageneers took a few months off when this place was thought of.
What will happen to the playground and fossil dig?
Hi Don! The entire land is being re-themed so everything has to go.
I will miss Dinoland, which had such a clever backstory – kudos to Joe Rodhe for his imprint on this part of Animal Kingdom, a Disney park that is testament to his genius. I loved Primeval Whirl and have always enjoyed the intricate, silly display on the ceiling of Chester & Hester’s – I was in Animal Kingdom yesterday (1/10) and stopped in to bid the place a fond adieu.
