It’s HERE! The gorgeous Polynesian Village Resort near Magic Kingdom just got a little better! There’s a brand-new Island Tower that finally opened on December 17th, 2024.
This new tower is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property, but ANYONE can book a stay here. There are plenty of new experiences to enjoy, including a new pool and a restaurant called Wailulu Bar & Grill, but one of the things we’re happiest to see is something that has been closed for a while now has officially REOPENED.
With the new Island Tower open, the walking path around the Seven Seas Lagoon is once again open!
The path follows a continuous circle around the body of water, connecting the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to Disney’s Wedding Pavilion to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the Magic Kingdom.
With the opening of the Island Tower, the path once again skews close to the water, providing fantastic views of the sites around the lagoon and a leisurely path to the Magic Kingdom for guests staying at the hotel.
The walking path around the Seven Seas Lagoon has reopened along with the grand opening of the Polynesian Village Resort’s Island Tower, once again providing a circular path around the lagoon to the Magic Kingdom. The new hotel offers breathtaking views of Magic Kingdom, a new pool and Moana splash pad, and new dining. You won’t want to miss out on seeing this new hotel on your next trip to Disney World!

The path was a wonderful and peaceful transition between properties before this new building. It’s unfortunate this was built.
Does anyone know if the shortcut between the Polynesian Resort and Shades of Green Resort has reopened?
AWalker
No and it probably won’t any time soon or at all. We were just there in November and the bus driver said that Disney may not reopen the sidewalk and if anyone has any complaints to talk to Disney since it wasn’t a Shades of Green/Army/military decision. We had hoped it would be open when we went so we could walk to Poly. We did not really enjoy the fact that Shades only has one bus to each park.
