We have some HUGE Disney World hotel news!
Disney Vacation Club just announced a NEW hotel that will be opening in 2027!
This new hotel will be called Disney Lakeshore Lodge and will be in the same location that the previously announced Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge Resort was supposed to be built. Reflections was announced back in 2019 with an expected opening date of 2022, but construction was halted after the 2020 global health crisis. It was set to occupy the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
The brand-new hotel will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” It is expected to be open in 2027! Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news!

What do you think about this new hotel announcement? Let us know in the comments!
After the motel 6 they built next to the Polynesian resort, I’m guessing this will look the same.
Anyone else waiting for news about new, non-DVC hotels being built? Or is it just me?
Another “Deluxe” hotel, I assume?
Will this newly branded hotel look exactly the same as Reflections? Is there any new art?
Hey Disney, how about a new value resort? PLEASE
I don’t mind all the new hotels coming to WDW, but disappointed (but also not surprised?) they are all DVC – it prices out many families such that it just isn’t practical to stay there, even with a deal or discount. Same with the cabins – i love the new look, but with a $200-$300 price increase per night, they really are only going to get (and are really only targeted) to DVC families.
Another hotel. How about another Park or two!
It’s not a huge surprise, since DFB has been sharing the news that there was clearly renewed activity toward a hotel in this location. And being on Bay Lake, it was only going to be DVC/Deluxe. I am glad as this should mean bringing more table service and other dining options to Fort Wilderness overall, and the FW cabins are our favorite ‘hotel.’ But it is surprising that Disney is finding the demand for DVC to be that strong. While this will benefit our favorite destination overall (although I imagine FW crowds and demand for FW amenities and experiences will increase), I wish that Disney would focus on appealing to the full spectrum of guests. They’re damaging the magic for everyone with the lack of respect for anything original and what look like money grabs, even to those who can afford them.
Looks a lot like the new pretend Poly to me! Should have built a new water park instead!
Wish they would go back to actual themed hotels. THST was the real Disney difference !
Grand Californian… East? Looks beautiful & Im glad something will happen with that semi-abandoned property.
It’s nice that they are using abandoned land for a new hotel rather than getting rid of one that already exists. But I am disappointed that everything being built these days is for DVC. I would love to see an actual themed hotel with a Star Wars motif that isn’t a $2000.00 a night experience. At Disneyland and WDW they only thing they seem to build are DVC hotels. Would be nice to have something that isn’t DVC.
It’s all about the greenbacks. Walt’s dream is no more, it’s not about the family experience unless you can afford it.
More congestion in the parks and strain on the transportation and restaurant systems. I have come to the conclusion that the Walt Disney Company just likes to see stressed out people waiting for services.
I’m ready for a new park – – – Disney Broadway! NYC has become a cesspool and not a safe place to visit, particularly for senior citizens. WDW has the land, and the expertise to build a new theatre district. Mix a few signature restaurants (Sardi’s?) with some state-of-the-art theatres. Disney already has a strong presence on Broadway. Move it to Central Florida.
I think Disney needs to start building resorts for Value and moderate instead of every build being for DVC so middle class can enjoy instead of just catering to the rich. It seems like Disney only what rich people need. That was not Walt’s dream.
