Lightning Lane Premier Pass has reached a MILESTONE!
When Disney released the Lightning Lane Premier Pass in October, reactions were divided. While some welcomed the newest level of Lightning Lane as a welcome way to skip the lines at the theme parks, others bemoaned the high prices and yet another level of pre-planning. It seems that for now anyway, the debate has been settled by Walt Disney World guests voting with their wallets.
UPDATE: Lightning Lane Premier Pass is now sold out on November 26th at Magic Kingdom as well. Check the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date availability.
According to the Walt Disney World app, Lightning Lane Premier Passes are SOLD OUT for both the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on November 25th. Lightning Lane Premier Pass prices fluctuate based on date and theme park, with the 25th originally costing $379 per person for the Magic Kingdom and $309 per person at Hollywood Studios, before selling out.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which is currently in a pilot program and only available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other select hotels, allows each guest who has one one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in the selected theme park. Eligible Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to 7 days before the first day of their hotel stay—for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days)—starting at 7:00AM Eastern Time.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass selling out on Monday, November 25th seems to be a sure sign that the new Lightning Lane tier will be exceptionally popular during Disney World’s busiest times. It probably won’t sell out at Christmas time. Guests already paying high prices for accomodations and tickets may not buy the premium pass. My limit is lightning multi and I can’t purchase it for everyday. 2 days of my 6 night vacation.
Wow… congrats, Disney? I guess some people have a lot more money than time. I’d rather use the same (or less) money to spend additional days in the parks, but I do not necessarily have more money than time lol! I bet that at least some of those people are trading off money they would have spent on dining, souvenirs, or ticketed events though. Undoubtedly not all, but some. And what this tells me is that the Lightning Lanes (and the parks in general) will be VERY crowded on those dates…
We’ve been going since Year One but too many changes that are getting rid of Walt’s Disney and everything that was iconic, classic Disney creations are turning Wdw into just another amusement park catering to the ultra wealthy and a very young demographic. Disneyland and Wdw were created for ALL generations to enjoy together with storytelling and creativity based on Disney tv shows and movies with rides and attractions one could see and enjoy without being scared or made sick or be in such darkness that you can’t even see the ride. And today’s new attractions like Frozen in Norway are bare and cheaply done. Add to that too much liquor in the parks and too many rude foreign guests means that Wdw, especially the parks, has lost its appeal for us. The magic, the pixie dust, is gone. We have been annual passholders for a long time – and those prices have ridiculously skyrocketed – so we will not be renewing and we see no reason to put up with Disney’s gimme gimme approach while they take away so much! Nor do we want to spend our days being pushed and shoved and stepped on with much of the parks under construction! In addition, there’s only one water park open, the horseback riding is gone, Disney Springs is changing too quickly for no good reason we can see….many of our favorite stores are closed….and even our favorite resorts are undergoing radical, intrusive ‘upgrades and refurbishments’ that seem ridiculous to us. The rooms were fine! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! So, sadly, we will not be going to Wdw in 2025….maybe never again. We think Walt and Roy must be rolling over in their graves to see how corporate greed has usurped the loveliness and childlike escapism that once was Wdw.
What hotels are included? Do you know if club Wyndham Bonnet Creek is?
This is why we simply will no longer go to WDW during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We downgraded our annual passes this year. It’s just too crowded and too expensive. More power to Disney for finding new ways to extract more revenue from their guests.
How long did it take for the passes to sell out, does anyone know?
“Wyndham Bonnet Creek included” Would love to know this as well, but I’ll bet sadly it is not.
Not surprised tbh. Disney IMO has been taking what we as frequent “super fans” of Disney have done for years bit by bit and monetizing the experience successfully. It started with carving out areas for fireworks and the “dessert party” when people use to camp out in those spots for hours knowing about the best place to view the event and pickup snacks for their party. Then it was the dessert trips on the monorail. The cruises that are fireworks cruises.
Now it is the FP now lightening lanes. It use to be with FP+, you could do the park well in one day if you were:
1). Organized
2). Experienced
3). We’re able to understand the ins/outs of Disney dining to combine good food experiences with time management with rides and their availability.
I think that is awesome for those of us who could do it – it was a fair system – if you put in the time, effort and made sacrifices – it worked. Then Disney started the VIP services which were okay too – sure, if you want to pay $1000 pp to ride the big rides once – sure. But now, it feels like a 2 sided money grab –
Grab 1) — sell the LL or FP to every ride once for a high fee
Grab 2) – sell the dining which is hard to to do if you are trying to save time on the attractions. Now you can do both.
It’s really selling the Disney super fan experience which to me cheapens it so much. The superfan was admired not because they had an unfair leg up but because of their dedication and knowledge. Now it is being sold for $350 pp.
Another in a long line of upsells over the past 7-8 years. Disappointing but not unexpected.
To echo another comment above – it changed with alcohol too. They push alcohol, even shots, everywhere now. Add a shot to your crepe – seriously?
Feel like a get of my lawn guy but it is frustrating and fits with what Disney has done over the past several years which is slowly cater to an increasingly wealthy crowd offering the superfan experience without any of the effort – if you can pay for it….
Unfortunately, Wyndham Bonnet Creek is not included. The only other resorts would be Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green Resort.
WOW, we all will now KNOW who the VERY WEALTHY are walking past us in the park and on the Ride Lines. Great job Disney. You sold out and made MORE MONEY and at the same time made many of your guests FEEL SMALL AND PERHAPS ANGRY. Disney you will see in the future how GREEDY AND STUPID THIS PREMIER IDEA IS. CONGRATULATIONS DISNEY YOU HAVE TRULY SEPARATED THE CLASSES OF DISNEY GUESTS. The average family who may have to save for years to take their children to Disney and THE VERY WEALTHY FAMILIES WHO FEEL THOSE OTHERS ARE JUST GETTING IN THEIR WAY.
