Okay, enough about Disney World, let’s travel over to the West Coast and talk about Disneyland a little bit.

Now, a LOT is going on over at Disneyland, and a lot more will be going on soon. A Coco ride is on the way, as is a whole land devoted to Avatar along with a major expansion to Avengers Campus. Things are going to be BUSY. So if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland in 2025 (like we are), you’ll want to know exactly what will be closed throughout the year, right? Well, we’ve got your back.

So here’s a full list of things that will be closed in Disneyland in 2025…

Disneyland

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in the Main Street Opera House closed on April 16th, 2024 for a lengthy refurbishment.

A reopening date for the Mr. Lincoln show is not yet known; however, there is something VERY interesting to know about the Main Street Opera House, which houses the attraction. President Lincoln was the first ever audio-animatronic made by Walt Disney, and now Disney has announced that the first-ever audio-animatronic of Walt Disney himself will be coming to Disneyland in a brand-new show. 

The new show, “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will share a space inside the Main Street Opera House (after an initial solo run) with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.” “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will open on July 17th, 2025! Ultimately, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will also return to the Opera House and will be shown in rotation with “Walt Disney — A Magical Life.”

Another classic Disneyland attraction, this time over in Fantasyland, will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment in early 2025. The classic “it’s a small world” (and yes, the Disneyland version of the ride is the superior version) closed for a refurbishment on January 21st. And we know of a change coming to the attraction…

A new character will soon be part of Disneyland’s “it’s a small world.” If you did not know, certain scenes in the ride feature Disney characters like Cinderella, Alice, Lilo, Stitch, and more! Now, Miguel and Dante from the Pixar film Coco will join the ride line-up!

Disney shares: “Silhouetted by a stunning marigold bridge, you’ll be able to spot this new addition when the attraction reopens” on May 9th, 2025.

Note that the ride will also close briefly in the fall to make way for its holiday overlay.

Additional Short-term Closures

Along with the major changes noted above, there are also rides and attractions that need a lil’ TLC from time to time. Here are the dates of various closures in Disneyland for 2025:

• The Disney Gallery — Currently closed; Anticipated Reopening Date: Not yet known
• Carnation Cafe — Currently closed; Anticipated Reopening Date: May 10th, 2025
• Matterhorn Bobsleds — Closing May 5th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: Not yet known
• Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room — Closing April 28th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: Not yet known
• Mad Tea Party — Closing May 5th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: May 7th, 2025
• King Arthur Carrousel — Closing May 7th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: May 9th, 2025
• Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster — Closing May 19th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: Not yet known

Disney California Adventure

A Disney California Adventure ICON has closed permanently, and we’re still not sure how we fill about it. On the one hand, it’s closing so we can get something NEW is coming to Avengers Campus (TWO new rides), and that’s exciting.

However, in order to make room for the new additions to Avengers Campus, the Red Car Trolley Barn had to close in California Adventure’s backstage area. The last day guests could ride the Red Car Trolley was February 8, 2025.

Along with the major changes noted above, there are also rides and attractions that need a lil’ TLC from time to time. Here are the dates of various closures in Disney California Adventure for 2025:

• Sorcerer’s Workshop — Closed April 28th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: May 13th, 2025
• Soarin’ Around the World — Closed April 28th, 2025; Anticipated Reopening Date: May 2nd, 2025
