Hurricane Milton is getting closer to Florida. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is currently predicting the hurricane to make landfall early Thursday morning, but wind and rain is expected to arrive ahead of its landfall.
The NHC is expecting heavy rainfall and the potential for hurricane-force winds in the Central Florida and Disney World area. Disney World just provided an update about their change and cancelation fees.

Disney World just updated their hotel cancelation policy again as Hurricane Milton heads toward Florida. The update states that: “Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 – Monday, 10/14.”
Previously, Disney was only waiving change and cancelation fees from Sunday, October 6th through Saturday, October 12th. The newest update includes additional days on both sides of the previous dates. That means that change and cancelation fees are waived beginning today, and will continue to be waived until Monday, October 14th.
Currently, Disney World has announced that a few hotels will be closing on Wednesday, October 9th at 11AM. These hotels are:
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
Additionally, Park Pass Reservations have also been blacked out for Wednesday, October 9th. If you previously made a park reservation it will still show up, but guests are unable to make a new park pass reservation for October 9th. As well, Disney World has restricted hotel reservations on property for October 9th and October 10th. This is likely to free up rooms for its hurricane ride-out crew and in case existing guests need to extend their stays due to the storm.
If you need to modify your trip, you can do so online or by calling (407) 939-5277.
Other than those changes, Disney World is operating under normal conditions, however they are still monitoring the storm and will make additional announcements as necessary.
