We went to ALL four parks at Disney World testing out the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass system. We have put the new system through the wringer to get all of your questions answered.
We’ve tested out many different scenarios.
You can check out a step-by-step guide to making your Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass selections.
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass systems are LIVE! These new systems are replacing the Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane systems that allow you to pay to utilize the Lightning Lane entrances. While there are similarities between the systems, the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass systems will require a bit of getting used to. We have guides covering ALL the details of these new systems.
While we were testing them out, we discovered a trick to refreshing the app to (hopefully) get some better options. You can use this method after you have made all of your initial selections and confirmed your purchase. This tip can help you find better times for attractions that you have already booked. When you are on the main screen, tap on the selection you are looking to modify the time for and then select “Modify Plan” in the pop-up.
You will then be taken to a screen where you can modify the experience by either picking a new time or picking a new experience. On this page, select whatever time the app gives you to modify the selection to (even if it is much later). Then, you will be taken to a screen to review the details of your selection.
On this page, find the attraction again, and you will see a “Modify Time” option in blue text. Click on this to see a list of available times. Then you can repeatedly click “Close” and then “Modify Time” again to refresh the available times. Your selections are only saved for five minutes, but you can continue to refresh the available times, and if the five minutes run out, you can simply back out and come back in.
This was the easiest and quickest way we could find to be able to repeatedly refresh the available times for a selection. You can do this without risking losing your selections. As long as you don’t fully confirm your change, you will keep your initial selections still. We were impressed with how fast of a refresh this provided and you may just be able to snag a better time for the attraction.
As we kept refreshing, we were able to see different times available. We started with seeing a 9:15PM time and then got a 6:45PM time after we refreshed.
However, we also got a message saying, “Sorry, there are no additional times currently available.” We were able to refresh again and see times again, though.
We will continue to test out tips and tricks and find out the best ways to utilize these new systems while you are at Disney World. What questions do you have about Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass? Let us know in the comments!
All of this information assembled later would make a great video resource.
I don’t like that you can’t separate the guests. With the old fast pass you could assign 1, 2, 3 or all 4 guests in your party to a rode. With lightening lane all four are assigned to your 3 selections. The only slight way around it is to divide your part of 4 and purchase 2 and 2.
I read the article and watched the video. I know this is a stupid question, but how do you refresh?
Also you said: ” Then you can repeatedly click “Close” and then “Modify Time” again to refresh the available times”. What do you mean by click close?
I’ll bet most of your readers know how to do this………
As much as I want to dive in and soak up all this new MultiPass info, our next trip isn’t until April and knowing Disney, they’ll probably make a ton of changes to the system by the time we get around to using it ?
But I definitely appreciate all the hard work everyone at DFB puts in to figure all this out for us! I’m excited to try it out for myself next April ☺️
What happens if you purchase multi pass and have a time for a ride but the ride closes down?
This hack or whatever you want to call it doesn’t look all that compelling. Times generally seem to get later which is what one wound expect. It also puts guests back in the mode of staring at their phones rather than enjoying the park experience.
Absolutely agree, Greg! I have no desire to continually refresh on the app. In fact, this whole “game” of paying extra money and extra time to attempt to get some good rides is getting bizarre. Give me an old fashioned amusement park where everyone waits in line. I think I am finally over my Disney World obsession!
The only problem with this method is that you actually have to snag a LL for the ride you want. Then you can try to get an earlier time. But if the ride is completely sold out then you have to use the slower refreshing method. I have not had much luck getting times to pop up on rides that are sold out unfortunately.
