Can you believe it’s time to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom?!
The Princess and the Frog-themed water ride is set to open to everyone on June 28th, 2024 after sets of previews for exclusive groups of Disney fans. Since construction started in early 2023, we’ve been anxiously waiting for the day we got to experience the attraction…and that day is here! We previously got a sneak peek at the animatronics, new characters, queue details, and more, but just as we were getting in line for previews so we could bring you the first-hand experience of this new ride, something unfortunate happened!
Today, June 3rd, we were getting ready to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for the very first time! The new ride tells a brand new story that takes place after the ending of The Princess and the Frog. We have been looking forward to going on this adventure with Tiana to find her missing ingredient, a band, for her Mardi Gras party for a while now. We made it to Magic Kingdom and were headed to get in line when we noticed that the ride appeared closed, but the music just started back up again, so we thought we were in the clear.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. As we were approaching the entrance to the queue, it was announced that the ride was closed, and we were not able to get in the queue!
It turned out that they were in fact evacuating the ride, which we were able to see happening outside. Cast Members who were on the ride for previews, were taken off the logs to be escorted off the ride. We had noticed something similar happening yesterday, June 2nd, during other sets of previews. It is possible that these evacuations were part of evacuation training for the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Cast Members with other Magic Kingdom Cast Members on the ride.

We were shortly told that we could come back to the line entrance where we have been hanging out waiting to find out if we’ll get to ride soon. We will keep you updated as we find out if we can ride the new attraction today!
Planning to ride when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Disney World. There are two ways to do so. You can either purchase Genie+ and make a Lightning Lane reservation for the attraction, or you can join the Virtual Queue at 7AM or 1PM. The Virtual Queue can be TRICKY, especially for brand new rides – learn all about it here.

Oh boy, planning a Disney trip can be quite the adventure, and we totally get it! But fear not, dear friends, we compiled EVERYTHING you need (and the things to avoid!) to plan the ULTIMATE Disney vacation.
Whether you're a rookie or a seasoned pro, our insider tips and tricks will have you exploring the parks like never before. So come along with us, and get planning your most magical vacation ever!
Personally I think it’s amusing. Once again Disney changes something that didn’t need to be changed to satisfy a handful of people and the redo doesn’t even make sense. More money down the drain!!
If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had opened as a brand new attraction, people would have been thrilled. The unfortunate tinge of racism brought to Splash Mountain by its source material is unfortunate, and it legions of fans should enjoy their memories of it and move on. Tiana’s is a stunning but imperfect ride that deserves to be judged on its own merits. I would wager that in a year or two, during a scheduled maintenance, Disney will make a couple of additions that will impress the naysayers. For now, just enjoy the Disney magic!
Here we go again! I love WDW, but what is going on with all of these break downs. GOSH!
This is almost certainly evacuation training, as you mentioned! These flume attractions very rarely need to have an actual evacuation with guests being escorted off the individual logs, but it is important to have a team that has experience doing so safely.
You don’t want the first time you do this as a CM to be in a real life situation.
Disney and we have lost an opportunity with the closure of Splash Mountain to encourage a more thoughtful and deep discussion leaving us with the knee-jerk social media friendly soundbites.
Splash Mountain in recounting the Brer Rabbit books (not the racist movie) shows how the powerless can win over the stupidity and hubris of the powerful. Brer Rabbit through his cleverness directs what Brer Fox does. Brer Rabbit wins and laughs, while Brer Fox loses and is shown to be a fool.
This theme of the oppressed finding ways to survive and “win” within systemic oppression that strips them of any agency, is important to understand as it is used throughout history and today by many groups that are powerful and have no voice. Women have used this tactic (feigning weakness, dependence, and stupidity) to work toward gaining rights and power.
Whether or not Splash Mountain was redone, we have lost so much in the simplistic discussion that passes for thoughtful consideration.
Despite being closed for the past year with plenty of opportunity to update and improve the mechanical aspect of the attraction, some things remain consistent…this attraction frequently breaks down.
LOL, yeah training for evacuation. Why they “reimagined” a perfectly fine ride is typical of its woke mentality. Until Iger is gone and someone is brought in with true family values Disney will continue to do these uninspired changes.
“tinge of racism” from the Splash Mountain attraction is a load of bunk. This was only in the head of woke Disney management with no basis in fact. Just like Aunt Jamima’s name was tken off the shelves. This, in a nutshell, is the problem with Disney today.
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah / Zip-A-Dee-Yay, my oh my what a wonderful day!
Hey guys, you totally missed it! Check out what Bob Iger was doing in the UK today 6/4. It was all over the news!
I wonder if Disney runs drills on evac procedures? Could that be what this is all about?
Hmmmm, we were scheduled for the preview ride on June 3rd and got in line at 11:30am. The line didn’t move for about 20 minutes, but finally started up and about an hour later we were in our “log” enjoying the bayou and all its characters and the ride was flawless. When we were done they were still loading people on with seemingly no issues. What time was this complete closure???
Hi AD. I reached out to our reporters to get the scoop and they said that they got there around 11:40 and while there were still people in line at that time, they wouldn’t let us join the line and told us to come back again later. They evacuated a while after that, but we were eventually able to ride, thankfully.
We Ned an “I Survived the Evacuation at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ” tshirt.
