While we love eating in the Disney World parks, there are tons of incredible dining options at Disney World hotels too!
Roaring Fork
Over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you’ll find Roaring Fork, a quick-service restaurant home to lots of hearty offerings. You’ll find a variety of hearty entrees and counter service basics (along with grab-and-go options) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a serene atmosphere, with seating both indoors and out. We heard there were some new sandwiches available on the menu, so you know we had to head over and try them!
We grabbed three new sandwiches at this location, all of them very different from each other, which makes them great for a variety of different palates. Our first bite was of the Focaccia Caprese for $9.49. It’s made with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil aïoli, and a balsamic reduction on fresh focaccia bread.

We would make a trip to Wilderness Lodge just to get this! It is PACKED with fresh mozzarella, the focaccia bread is baked perfectly with plenty of olive oil flavor on top and a spongy texture, and the basil aioli and balsamic reduction add great flavor and a sweetness that balances the peppery arugula on the sandwich.
Focaccia Caprese
This sandwich is also SO shareable — not in a polite “I shouldn’t eat too much so I’ll split it with you” way, but in a genuine “there’s no way I could ever finish this in one sitting” way. We can’t believe it’s less than $10 for the portion you get, but we’re not complaining!
We LOVED it!
The most “basic” of the new sandwiches is the Grilled Cheese Sandwich for $9.29! But trust us, this sandwich is anything BUT basic. It has four cheese blend, bacon, and crispy onion straws on fresh sourdough bread.

This is a great “grown-up” grilled cheese! One of the keys to a good grilled cheese is great bread in our opinion, and the thinly sliced sourdough this sandwich is made on is delicious. It has great flavor all on its own and is sturdy enough to handle the multiple toppings.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich
We also love the addition of crispy onions (these are like the French fried onions you find on top of the green bean casserole at Thanksgiving)! If you’ve ever put potato chips on your sandwich for some crunch, you will love this addition. The bacon is crispy and makes this sandwich a more substantial meal — overall, we highly recommend it!
It looks simple, but we loved it!
And our last bite was of the Smoked Sausage for $10.49. It has smoked sausage (obviously), braised peppers, and onions on a French roll.

The smoked sausage is one of the best we’ve had in Disney World! It’s juicy and the casing has a good snap as you bite into it. The onions and peppers are well cooked — they still have a bit of bite left, and it doesn’t feel like they have the mushy texture you sometimes get when they’ve been hanging out in a warmer all day. We loved the flavor they provided!
Smoked Sausage
The roll is where this sandwich is lacking, unfortunately — it’s sturdy enough to hold the heavy ingredients, but there’s too much of it. There’s more bread than toppings on this sandwich, and that ratio makes the bread too dry. We recommend adding mustard or another condiment of your choice to fix this problem!
The sausage itself is great!
Overall, we enjoyed the Focaccia Caprese the most, but think all three of these are solid new options! All of these are available on mobile order, which makes them even easier to grab on the go. Wilderness Lodge might be out of the way, but we’re happy we made the trek to try these!

My wife and I love the turkey sandwiches from Contempo Cafe that have the cranberry aoili on them. We get them everytime we go as long as they are available!
Do these new sandwiches at Roaring Fork come with sides, llike chips or fries? For the price, I’d want sides as well.
Hi Ryan! It depends on which sandwich you get. Some come with house-made chips and some do not.
Can you get on property without a reservation or is proof of a mobile order good enough?
Hi Blaise! In our experience, it hasn’t been much of an issue, but it really depends on the security at the gate. We have been turned away before without a reservation, so if you want to make sure you’re going to be allowed in to the resort, you can take Disney transportation there from Disney Springs or any of the parks. When we have been turned away it’s because we were trying to park on site, but we have never been turned away if we have taken a Disney bus there.
This is our home resort. Will be trying the grilled cheese in January.
