Summertime at Disney World means hot and rainy days, but it also means that two rides are going to REOPEN!
For a while, two popular Disney World attractions have been undergoing refurbishment, and with summer right around the corner, we can’t wait for these attractions to open again soon! Besides these two attractions this summer, we are also patiently awaiting even MORE attractions that will open later this year.
If you have been missing out on the chance to rock out with Aerosmith or get drenched on a log flume ride, you’re in luck. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom (previously Splash Mountain) will finally reopen this summer!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed for a lengthy refurbishment since January 8th. Disney said that the ride will reopen this summer, and while no date has been announced, we are so eager to see the changes!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster underwent a refurbishment last year as well, and when it reopened, the ride stayed pretty much the same.
Last year, obviously, the ride’s mechanical side was examined and given some TLC. Certain signs in the ride even got a new paint job to make them even brighter and give the attraction a fresh look. It can be hard to notice details when you start the attraction, going 0 to 60 in under three seconds.
While we do not know for sure what this refurbishment holds, we have been speculating. With this refurb we are hoping that the songs remain untouched. There are eight Aerosmith songs that are featured in Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster; each coaster train may hear a different song. When the ride went under for refurb last year, the ride reopened with the same set of songs.
This year is also the 25th anniversary of the attraction, which opened on July 29th, 1999. Maybe Disney is also planning to open the ride on July 29th this year to celebrate its 25th year! We also hope this means that special 25th-anniversary merchandise will be for sale in the Rock Around the Shop.
While we don’t know the exact reopening date or the changes that have been made, we are looking forward to getting our backstage passes again and being able to rock out with Aerosmith again later this summer!
Splash Mountain closed in January 2023 to be reimagined as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and the time is almost here to go down the Bayou with Tiana and all of her friends!
We do not have an opening day yet, but it was recently announced that previews for the attraction will start in mid-June, which means we are getting closer and closer every day (these puns are just too easy!)
We are expecting some changes for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that goes past the obvious change in theme.

When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens, it can be expected that demand to ride the attraction will be HIGH! Just like any new attraction everyone wants to try to be able to see all the new and exciting technology that Imagineering has worked on.
Due to the demand, we are expecting Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to have both a Virtual Queue and an Individual Lightning Lane option. While this is all speculation when rides like TRON Lightcycle / RUN and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened, both attractions offered Virtual Queue and an Individual Lightning Lane option. Even after these attractions have been open for over a year, they both still use these options and do not currently offer a stand-by line.
If Disney follows the model of previous new attractions, we can expect Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to follow in the footsteps of other new attractions.
With the addition of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, it could be possible for Disney World to have three Virtual Queue options, or maybe Disney will take one attraction off of the Virtual Queue to still only have two attractions available for Virtual Queue. Again, this is all just speculation and has not been confirmed.
As we continue to see progress being made at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, it can feel like we are almost there to finding out all the new details of when this ride will open and how the queue will operate
Summer can’t come fast enough as we are so excited for these rides to reopen! Make sure to keep following along with us when more news and details of opening dates are announced!

SOUNDS good! Looking forward to the reopening of RnR Coaster! Rumors abound that Aerosmith was out and Queen was moving in. THANK GOD that isn’t happening because I would have been waiting for my crew outside the backstage door.
