Disney+ is expanding its library of content once again, and we’ve gotta warn you — this one’s gonna have you breaking out the tissues.

There’s been a lot of conversation around Disney+ lately since its NEW Hulu addition, which also resulted in an updated look to the streaming platform. Now, it seems that Disney+ is ready to take us on a wild emotional rollercoaster about the man behind some of the most beloved characters on the planet.
Disney just dropped a teaser trailer for an upcoming original documentary on a familiar public figure. While you might not immediately recognize his face, you’ve likely seen another face Jim Henson helped bring to life. Henson is the creative mind behind The Muppets, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and even Sesame Street, but Jim was so much more than just the father of these characters and films — he was an idealist who “showed people the good in all of us.”

Jim Henson Idea Man is produced by Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Ron Howard (yes, the same filmmaker that brought us the incredible documentary on The Beatles) and aims to follow Jim’s personal and professional life, the ideas that led to creating The Muppets, and how he dealt with the rising success that followed.

Princess cruises has a Jim Henson tribute show that integrates both live performers with some of the muppets with filmed segments of some of his early works. It was very well done and interesting to watch.
We had the deep pleasure in Orlando of seeing the Henson exhibit that toured the country some years back. It was beautifully done, with many props from various Henson works – including the balcony where Statler and Waldorf sat. I’m hoping that the show that begins May 31st will give the same pleasure to the many Henson fans that were unable to see the exhibit.
I still feel that I lost a friend when Jim Henson died – and I still can’t hear Rainbow Connection without tears.
