We’re not going to lie — we’re pretty impressed with the way people are constantly innovating and hacking the travel game.
Traveling isn’t easy these days, and when you’re heading to Disney World you have to consider so many factors. Whether it’s a budget hack, a packing hack, or an outfit we keep seeing nearly everywhere we go — these are the latest Disney World travel trends we can totally get behind.
We asked our readers on Facebook what Disney World travel trends they could totally get behind, and this is what they said!
Actually Sleeping in and Relaxing
Rope drop? Don’t know her! Gone are the days of waking up at the crack of dawn to make it to the parks before they open. Sure, some people still do it, but our readers tend to agree — sleeping in and actually relaxing on your Disney World vacation can change your life. This won’t work for everyone, of course. If you’re trying to squeeze every little thing in and really get your money’s worth — sleeping in might not be your best bet.
But for many folks, leisurely making their way into the parks and just rolling with the punches throughout the day can actually be the best way to do it. Toss in a day or two spent poolside at your Disney World hotel and we think that sounds pretty swell, don’t you?
Taking Shorter Trips
Another trend our readers seem to get behind (and we tend to agree!) is the idea of taking shorter, weekend trips to Disney World rather than a week or more. Again, this plan doesn’t necessarily work for everyone — if you’re trying to do all four parks and then some, a weekend might not cut it. But if you’re just itching to step through those Magic Kingdom entrance gates and have a little bit of fun, a shorter trip could be for you.
Folks who travel from long distances to Disney World likely won’t find this trend quite as feasible, though, and maybe a longer stay makes more sense in that scenario. But, if you’re working with a smaller timeframe and an even smaller budget, planning a quick trip instead of a long one can be a great way to fit a Disney World vacation into your plans.
Splitting Hotel Stays
If you’re interested in experiencing a Disney World Deluxe ($$$) or Moderate ($$) hotel but aren’t trying to spend THAT much money on your trip — consider doing a split stay! It may not make sense for shorter trips, but if you’re planning on being in Disney World for, let’s say, five days or more — breaking your hotel stay up at two different resorts can not only save you money, but you get to experience more of what Disney World has to offer!
For example, let’s say you’ve always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but the price tag is a little steep for your whole stay. You could book a night or two at Wilderness Lodge to experience it, and then move over to a Value Resort like Pop Century or Art of Animation to soften the blow to your wallet. Or, consider staying at the Value hotel first to end your trip in style!
Budget Airlines and Hotels
Budget airlines and value hotels go hand in hand with shorter trips, so it makes sense that these travel trends would make their way to Disney World too. Frontier, Spirit, Allegiant, and Breeze are just a few of the budget airlines we keep an eye on to bring you the latest cheap flights. A quick weekend getaway to a Disney World Value Resort on a budget airline doesn’t necessarily have to break the bank.
Disney World Value hotels are great options for folks who are traveling on a budget or just plan on spending little time at the actual hotel. Pop Century, Art of Animation, and the All-Star Resorts can be great options for larger groups thanks to the suites, or just for those trying to save some dough.
Travel trends are always changing, but one thing remains: we’ll keep you updated on all things Disney! Stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney planning tips, news, and more!
