When was the last time you went to Magic Kingdom at Disney World?
Out of all the parks in Disney World, this one is the one that can give you the most, shall we say “fun”, just trying to get there (IYKYK). It’s all thanks to our lovely friend — the Transportation and Ticket Center (also known as the TTC). We thought we would try to make things a little smoother for you and go over all that you need to know when parking at Magic Kingdom!
All Disney World pros can tell you that they have a love-hate relationship with the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) at Disney World. Driving your car to Disney World and having to park in a parking lot is nothing new (even if feels like you’re parking a million miles away from the entrance). No, the TTC is a beast and it’s unique, so let’s go over what you’ll face once you arrive!
First things first, unlike the other parks that have their parking lot right next to their entrance (so that you can walk right in), Magic Kingdom collects all of its guests in a truly MASSIVE set of parking lots that are over a mile away from the entrance!
After speaking with one of the Cast Members at the entrance and paying for parking, you’ll be directed to either the Heroes or the Villians Parking lots.
Keep an eye out for the signs as they will tell you which section you’ve parked in. Pro-tip: Write down the name and number of your section in the notes app of your choosing on your phone, because it’s going to be a challenge to try to remember which section you parked in hours later.
You have two options from this point — either walk or ride a tram to the TTC. We’d recommend hopping on one of the parking trams that will conveniently stop by your parked car. This way you get a nice breezy and easy ride up to the TTC and save all the walking for the park.
The tram will drop you off at the TTC where you will have to go through a security checkpoint. (This is also where you can purchase a ticket should you need to.)
From here, you have a couple of choices again — straight ahead, the Monorail…
…or, to the left, the Ferryboat.
Let’s start with the ferryboat as it’s a straightforward option that’s great if you like the water and a nice breeze…
…and for times when the Monorail is not operational. The ferryboats typically arrive in 10-20 minute intervals, but they don’t have a regular schedule. They hold a TON of guests, but there is limited bench seating, so don’t be surprised if you have to stand during your ride across Seven Seas Lagoon.
Now let’s go back to the Monorail.
You’ve got two main options — the Express Monorail directly to Magic Kingdom…
…or the Resort Monorail that takes guests to Magic Kingdom along a line that also stops at the Monorail Resorts (Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary).
Now those are your usual two choices for getting to the Magic Kingdom — Monorail or Boat. BUT, there are days when either the Monorail or the ferryboat are not running because of maintenance or other issues. If that happens, long lines will form for the other choice. And in this case, we have an important tip to remember — Disney will provide buses to take you to the Magic Kingdom, and if there are problems with other transportation — this is your move. The bus will be faster. We promise.

If there are problems with the monorail or ferryboat at the TTC, take a bus for the quickest way to Magic Kingdom!
Any way you choose to go, you’ll finally arrive at your destination — Magic Kingdom!
Lastly, when you’re heading out of Magic Kingdom and get back to the TTC, remember that there are two parking lots — the Heroes lot and the Villains lot. You need to make sure you are hopping on the right one. This is where those notes we talked about earlier come in clutch.
There’s a good amount of signage that displays the lots and rows that each tram will be stopping at. Even if you only remember row 112, you can easily figure out which tram to hop on.
I know it’s a lot of information, but hopefully, this all makes your next trip to Magic Kingdom just that much easier. Until then, stay tuned to DFB for even more Disney news!
