Ahoy there, crew! After a long day at sea, we’re ready to head ashore and procure a meal. Luckily, a new gathering spot is coming soon, so all you salty sea lovers and plunderin’ pirates will have a special gathering place right in Adventureland.

Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is arguably one of the most POPULAR Disney attractions out there! Even after all this time, we still can’t resist singing along when we hear, “Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!” But did you know that a NEW pirate-themed location is coming to Magic Kingdom? Prepare to make sail! We’re going over EVERYTHING we know about the NEW Pirates of the Caribbean dining space.
During the 2023 D23 event, Disney announced that a NEW tavern is coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. Look out for a new pirate-themed area where guests of all ages can tell their tales from land and sea. Now, ever since this announcement, Disney has remained pretty quiet on the topic. OK, actually, they haven’t said a peep in months. But us Disney experts have gotten pretty good at analyzing Disney concept art, so let’s talk about what you can expect from this new location.

We LOVE this ride!
Here’s a look at the concept art Disney shared back in 2023. That green bird on the left is somewhat of an icon among Pirates fans. He’s known as the Barker Bird, and Disney revealed that he will take up residence in a NEW location!

This bird used to greet guests as they entered the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and was featured at the end of the attraction for a bit as well. Nowadays, you may still see him on Disney souvenirs around the park.

This guy!
Additionally, Disney explained, “This first-of-its-kind experience will extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean.” At this point, it’s not entirely clear if we’re looking at a new lounge, tavern, restaurant, or “experience,” but based on that concept art, it looks like a fun place for pirates to gather (and maybe enjoy a drink?). Plus, Disney did refer to it as “A new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge” back in September 2023.

BUT WAIT. Because then, Disney went and referred to it as a “pirate tavern.” Lounge? Tavern? Same thing? We’ll let you be the judge. Could “tavern” imply there will be FOOD? We hope so! Also, shoutout to the Cast Members for nailing that Captain Jack Sparrow impersonation. Oh, and notice how they ran past a RUM barrel? Interesting…

Now, back to the concept art because we have more to discuss. Looking closely at the illustration, there is only ONE character with a bit of color in the otherwise sepia-toned tavern scene. We know that red hair! That looks a whole lot like Redd, don’t you think?

For context, this is Redd. She’s a fierce, fiery pirate, and fans LOVE her scene in the ride!

We LOVE her!
Elsewhere in the scene, you can also spot the sleeping man from the ride. His pig friend even made an appearance! Based on this concept art, we have a feeling that the lounge will resemble a village tavern. We’re picturing something similar to Gaston’s Tavern but a little more pirate-y.

The concept art also shows a table with some barrels used as chairs with a bar area off to the side. Could this be a clue about the interior decorations we may see in this new location? Is this a hint about the layout? We’re imagining the center of the room may feature tables for groups, with counters or a bar along the wall for smaller parties. We’ll have to wait and see!

What do you think?
In terms of a location, we’re still waiting for official confirmation. Many people are predicting that Disney will reimagine Tortuga Tavern, which is across from the ride. We have another guess, though. Since the Barker Bird used to greet guests at the entrance of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and since, in the concept art, he once again seems to be greeting guests, we wonder if the lounge might end up in the former Pirates League area.

The Pirate’s League
We can’t wait for Disney to share more details about this space. We have plenty of wishes of our own, but for now, we’re just going to have to wait for a new announcement. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

I would definitely visit. The ideas for menu items could be fun. Will it be fast food or sit down? Either way I’m in!
I have been wanting to go back to Disney world with my husband. Since we got married 7yrs ago. The hotel we stayed at didn’t treat us right at all it was our honeymoon, we missed out on a lot of the parks. Hopefully we will get a chance to experience the beautiful and magical places.
Years ago, had the best tacos ever at an outdoor sitdown restaurant across from the potc ride. Went back last year and it was gone. Sure hope they bring it back!!! Love the potc movies with johnny Dell et al…..Also hope they bring back his tees from years ago sold as we exit the ride. Want to buy more!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirates Lounge for me! I would definitely visit this new lounge!
