Move over, Disney World! There’s a NEW theme park coming to town, and it’s gonna be EPIC. (How long til that joke gets old?)  Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe is coming to Orlando, Florida SOON. But how soon?

Before we go spouting off about the Epic Universe opening date, we should probably take a step back. What IS Epic Universe? What will it look like? What’s included? We have alllll the answers, so let’s dive in!

Epic Universe will be Universal Orlando’s THIRD park. In fact, it’s been called “its most ambitious theme park yet.” Look out for “more than 50 awe-inspiring attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences” in a space nearly double the size of Universal Orlando Resort! WHOA!

In early 2024, Universal Orlando finally shared some major details about the five themed lands coming to Epic Universe: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. Yep — Super Nintendo World is coming to Orlando!

We still don’t know exactly what each land will look like, but we do have a LOT of stunning concept art to admire. Look at that water feature!

OK, now let’s talk dates. We don’t have ’em. Yet. Back in 2022, during a quarterly Comcast investors call, Universal shared that Epic Universe would be ready “certainly in time for summer 2025.” “Certainly,” eh? Well, some recent changes and updates may prove Universal is rethinking that estimated timeline.

Near the end of January, Universal dropped a TON of news bombs. We saw some concept art, learned about the lands coming to Epic Universe, and even found out how many new attractions are set to come to Orlando. But in Universal’s teaser announcement, we noticed something about the opening timeline. The statement reads, “Universal Epic Universe opens 2025 at Universal Orlando Resort.” Did you catch that? It no longer says “summer 2025.”

We weren’t the only ones to catch this update! One Twitter/X user reached out to Universal to see when in 2025 the park would open. Universal did not share a more specific date.

So, what could this mean? Is Universal facing construction delays? We’ll have to wait and see! But, for now, it seems like we can expect Epic Universe to open sometime in 2025. Who knows! Maybe it will open AHEAD of schedule, and we could see an early spring opening date. For now, we’ll have to be content with “2025.” Let’s look at some more concept art to get excited, shall we?
