The Walt Disney Company has had a rough go of it over the past few years.
We’ve seen political controversy, lawsuits, and mass layoffs impact the company, and now, more layoffs are on the horizon for certain employees. Here’s what we know.
Disney’s main online store, shopDisney, will be laying off 115 employees effective March 24th, 2024, Scott Gustin has reported on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Gustin, the employees affected work primarily in guest service roles and most of the positions being eliminated are part-time. It’s being reported that shopDisney will outsource these guest service positions to “a third-party company with employees across the globe and time zones.”
Disney hasn’t made any official statements on these layoffs just yet, but we’ll let you know if that changes. It’s also unclear whether or not this change will have an impact on shopDisney operations.
These layoffs come after thousands of employees were let go in phases throughout 2023. In total, Disney laid off 7,000 employees during that time.
Our thoughts are with those impacted by these layoffs. For more Disney news, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog.
It has always been nice to phone Disney about something and speak with someone who can be easily understood. This bodes ill for that in the future.
