A lot is happening in Disney World.
We’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of not one, but TWO, new restaurants at Disney Springs. The EPCOT transformation is scheduled to be over soon. A NEW ride is being constructed in Magic Kingdom. PLUS Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a brand new structure for new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas. So let’s take a look at what those villas look like now.
Now, the main construction of the DVC building doesn’t look a lot different from the last time we checked in. We can say, though, we’re still surprised at how this building continues to expand — it’s way bigger than we initially imagined.
These rooms are also super close to Seven Seas Lagoon, so we’re assuming they’re going to have some AMAZING views, including views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
We did notice that most of the rooms are now completely enclosed and now have sliding glass doors that have been installed.
We also noticed that work seems to be starting on enclosing rooms on the first level of the building.
Overall, the building is really starting to take shape and look like something now. We remember when this was just a site filled with dirt.
The structure has a total of 10 floors that we can see so far.
Disney has not yet started putting some of the cosmetic touches on the building, but we expect we might start seeing that soon. As a refresher, here’s what it’s supposed to look like when it’s complete. It’s inspired by what early concepts of the Polynesian Village Resort looked like.
The new villas won’t just have new rooms, though: it will also feature new recreation and dining options (okay, we’re SO curious about the dining).
We’ll be keeping an eye on the site and keep you updated on how it’s going. The new DVC villas are expected to open some time in 2024.

We are looking forward to staying there. Sometimes we need more room than a Studio.
This is a sad one. One of the great transitions between resorts has been ruined with this building. Plus there never should have been a building taller than the Grand Ceremonial House at the Poly.
I agree with Todd.
Greatly Increased Hotel Capacity, But Almost Nothing for Ride and Attraction Expansion. Only Increases Crowd Level and Not Guest Experience.
WDW Needs a Fifth Park !
Another disappointment. Such a shame this massive building has taken the place of the Luau restaurant and show. Disney is building more hotel rooms without adding any entertainment in the parks and outside the parks. More and more hotel rooms and less and less entertainment. Once again Bob Iger thinking of nothing but money without a thought of the guests enjoyment. I wouldn’t mind if the money was going to enriching the experience of the guests and paying the cast members more money. No its going into the executives’ pockets. Like the millions Chapek received when he was fired and Iger’s bonuses for taking over once again.
Yes I miss the luau why they got rid of that!
At the Poly and Floridian yesterday and the crowds were off the scale. At GF the 2pm line for the monorail was 45 minutes wait. How are the extra hundreds of guests here actually going to get anywhere when this building opens?
Lou is absolutely correct. Another point that Disney Exec., pushing for all these huge DVC’s, never think about. As I have said “Walt’s idea and plan was always first for the guest!” Disney now is all about the bucks and nothing for the guests. The Polynesian was once an exotic resort – quiet and pleasant to stay there. Went to the breakfast in March and looking out at the main pool – it looked like chaos! Has Disney Corp ever heard – “more is less”. Out of the 20 + times we have stayed in WDW over the years, and 2x in the past year and a half – we never had a problem booking a hotel room of our choice. Come on Disney – you have ruined the atmosphere of the Polynesian, you have created a situation of over crowded parks and you have eliminated numerous entertainment throughout WDW.
