When it comes to Disney, there are TONS of snack options to choose from.
We review lots of snacks here at DFB on a daily basis. When it comes to plant-based options for our vegetarian and vegan friends, it sometimes feels like the options are limited. So, we decided to check out and review some plant-based snacks we found around Walt Disney World, and now we need to tell you what we really think of them.
Sometimes it can be hard to find plant-based food options around the park. Options can be limited at the snack carts, and let’s be real, those spots can be overpowered by meat (looking at you, turkey legs) or are very dairy-focused.
This can make it hard for our plant-based pals to snack around, so we did some research and found some great plant-based treats around Disney World.
Bikini de Pisto Con Queso Manchego (without the Manchego)
At its core, it is a zucchini, red pepper, eggplant, and manchego pressed sandwich. We ordered it without the manchego, so we know it is possible to make this plant-based.
The bread is very crisp, but not hard. It’s easy to bite into, and once you get past the crisp outer layer, it’s very thin and soaks up the spread and makes the whole thing softer. Asking to have the cheese left off, even though you’re getting fewer ingredients for your money, is so worth it.
The combination of the bread and the spread is perfect. The Pisto is both sweet and savory and intensely flavorful while just being cooked veggies. This is a really delicious vegan sandwich at Disney Springs.
We wouldn’t call this a filling meal by any means, but it is for sure a great snack to have while shopping around Disney Springs. This treat can be found at Pepe by José Andrés in Disney Springs for $12.
Scallion Radish Cracker
This snack is like a savory cereal bar with both sweet and salty flavors. The texture of the bar itself is sort of like eating uncooked ramen in the best possible way. It has a great sweet and salty vibe, so if you’re into that this could be a great plant-based snack option for you. When you bite into it, it has hints of caramel, and then all of the other flavors begin to show themselves and we loved it!
This isn’t a snack for everyone, though. Between the texture and the flavor profile, if you or someone in your group is a picky eater and likes familiar flavors, this may not be the snack for you. This snack can be found at the House of Good Fortune at EPCOT for $9.
Plant-based Crab Cake Sandwich
This crab cake sandwich is a plant-based take on a classic. The crab cake is served on a white roll with coleslaw on top and is similar to a previous offering called the doom burger.
It has great flavor, but the texture can be a little off-putting to those who get this and expect the classic crab cake experience. We would say it almost tastes like it is “lightly flavored seafood,” which sounds odd, but trust us, we really enjoyed this! The fresh coleslaw on top made it next-level.
If you’re expecting authentic seafood, this may not be for you. However, we think this is a great plant-based option. We found this snack at Colombia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom for $13.49.
When it comes to plant-based eats, Disney tries their hardest to add them to the menu. When in Walt Disney World, make sure you’re looking for a green leaf icon on the menus so you know what is a plant-based option! They also have their own tab when you are Mobile Ordering at a quick service restaurant, so keep an eye out for that when you’re ordering your meals for the day.
We’re here to let you know what is a hit or what misses the mark for plant-based options at Disney World, so keep checking in with us at DFB for those updates!
