Disney World is full of iconic food experiences, and we spend much of our time there seeking them out — we are Disney Food Blog after all.
From grabbing a Mickey Premium Bar in front of the castle to dining among princesses at Cinderella’s Royal Table, there are tips and tricks to elevate any Disney food adventure. Today, we’re talking about location. If you’ve ever sat at a restaurant in Disney World and wished you had been in a better seat, this post is for you.
Sitting in the best seats at a restaurant can make the experience. Here are some of the places where you’re probably sitting in the wrong section!
Columbia Harbour House
Oh, Columbia Harbour House. A true staple in Magic Kingdom. The food is reliable, the location is on point, and the air conditioning will give you the perfect break from the Florida heat. But y’all, it can get busy.
If you have ever dined here, you probably have noticed that the dining room can fill up quick. That’s why we’re here to tell you — go upstairs. The downstairs dining room can be a noisy and far from a relaxing experience. But upstairs? Typically it is cool, quiet, and has plenty of seats. If you find one by the window at the right time, you might even catch the parade outside!
Next time you’re dining at this restaurant, head to the stairs (you’ll find the main set right behind the Mobile Pickup counter). You’ll be in for a much better meal!
Be Our Guest Restaurant
Be Our Guest Restaurant is a coveted restaurant and it can be pretty hard to get a reservation at times. It’s an incredibly themed dining location that will have you feeling like you stepped foot right into the Beast’s castle. But not all of the dining rooms are created equal!
For example, while the Rose Gallery is Belle’s favorite room, we don’t share her preferences.
The most iconic setting in the restaurant is The Grand Ballroom — and it is beautiful! With twinkling chandeliers, shades of gold and royal blues, and stunning windows showcasing gently falling snow, dining in this room will truly feel like an elevated experience.
But, don’t skip over the West Wing! Home to the Enchanted Rose — which sits next to the Enchanted Mirror –, this dining room is moody and immersive.
From time to time, thunderstorms rattle the room, and the flashes of lightning simultaneously reveal a change in the portrait from the Prince…
…to the Beast!
While you aren’t guaranteed a seat in the dining room of your choice, you can request one. Occasionally, you might just have to wait a little longer to get your desired location.
Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen
The Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen, located in Adventureland, is based on the classic Disney attraction: the Jungle Cruise! The restaurant is steeped in backstory and details that make this spot a ton of fun.
The Skipper Canteen has three dining rooms: the Falls Family Parlor, the Crew Mess Hall, and a once-secret meeting room of the Society of Adventurers and Explorers. If you want to have the best experience, you might not want to sit in the largest room — the Crew Mess Hall. This dining hall is lively, bright, and airy, with a lot of color and references to the Jungle Cruise’s history — and you won’t feel cramped here. It’s definitely not a bad choice…
…but, if you’re looking for a more intimate setting, opt for one of the smaller parlors. While all of the rooms have great theming, the larger dining room really feels more like a mess hall — which, they are going for.
But, if you want something a little more calmed-down and elegantly immersive, the Falls Family Parlor and a once-secret meeting room of the Society of Adventurers and Explorers will probably be better suited for you.
The Crystal Palace
Lastly, at The Crystal Palace, you’ll get to meet some friends from Hundred Acre Wood. At this “A Buffet with Character,” Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger visit guests at their table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
With these beloved characters coming to greet you, there’s not really a bad seat, but there is one way you can elevate this experience — sit by the window!
If you get a table by the windows, you’ll get to see a lovely view of Cinderella Castle. Between that and friendly characters walking around the dining room, you can’t really go wrong. And if you time it out right — you might even see the parade from your table!
Next time you’re dining in Magic Kingdom, it doesn’t hurt to make a request for a specific table. It might just make your experience all the more magical. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!
