Genie+ has gone through a few different transformations since the skip-the-line service first rolled out in Disney World.
And, just when we thought we had the hang of things — Disney goes and changes it all over again. As of June 27th, Genie+ is now a per-park, per-day service, meaning that the price depends on which park you’re visiting and which date you visit. This “dynamic pricing” has ebbed and flowed since it was first introduced, but we’ve noticed something kind of peculiar lately.
The price for Genie+ has not changed since August 8th — as of this writing, that makes ten days of unchanged pricing. Although we’ve seen the cost stay the same for a few days in a row, this is the longest streak since dynamic, park-specific pricing was first introduced.
It’s not just the regular, standard Genie+ pricing that has gone unchanged either — each of the Individual Lightning Lane rides has kept the same price as well. Here’s a look at what Genie+ cost in each park between August 8th and now:
- Multi-Park: $25
- Magic Kingdom: $25
- EPCOT: $18
- Hollywood Studios: $22
- Animal Kingdom: $16
And here’s the price of each Individual Lightning Lane ride between those same dates:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: $11
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: $15
- Rise of the Resistance: $22
- Flight of Passage: $14
- TRON Lightcycle / Run: $20
Disney has previously shared that Genie+ pricing is set based on demand, so it’s possible that is the reason for the stall — the demand in the parks hasn’t wavered in 10 days either. We have seen pretty steady crowds and wait times in the parks lately too, especially with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party having officially kicked off, and we could see that trend continue.
Ultimately, there’s no guarantee that these prices are here to stay. Depending on how busy the upcoming holiday season is this year, it’s possible we could see prices skyrocket across the board. The good news is that Disney has announced even more changes will be coming to Genie+ in 2024, where you’ll be able to plan your Lightning Lanes ahead of time (a la the old FastPass+ system.) We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but we’ll keep an eye out!

Hi! LOVE Disney Food Blog! Are there meaningful differences between multipark and MK if they are the same price? Obviously the tickets would need to be park hopper, but I’m just wondering what (if any) the differences could be. I know multi-park becomes unavailable if any park sells out, and MK is probably one of the first to sell out, so maybe that particular difference is moot. Are there any limitations on any given park? Are you penalized in some way if you buy multipark but then change plans and don’t park hop? Thanks to anyone for any insights to share.
So here is my question; Once you buy the genie +, do you have to pay for additional rides? Like at Magic kingdom, after paying the $25, do you have to pay the additonal $11 for 7 Dwarfs?
Hi! You won’t be penalized if you don’t end up park hopping, but you also won’t get a refund. We have rarely seen any parks get to full capacity and when we have it’s been on big events like New Year’s Eve or Christmas Day. If they’re the same price, it never hurts to add multi-park just so you know the option to hop is there if you end up deciding to take advantage of that.
Hey there! LOVE LOVE LOVE DFB! Thanks for being there for us!
FYI – I was at the parks this weekend and MK (and “all parks”) Genie+ was only $23 on Saturday (8/19) and today it is $27. ($27 on a Monday!!)
Not looking forward to “holiday spikes”. ?
Genie is like going to a county fair where you pay to get in then you pay to ride. It cheapens the Disney experience.
Jim Hart,
Great question and the answer to your answer is Yes. Each lightning lane you purchase is a separate charge. If you book seven lightning lanes In a day you will be charged seven times but different prices according to ride choices. You may only ride once with a lightning lane and any additional trips on the same ride wi l l have to be in standby que.
This makes me angry. The price appears to only go up …never comes down. Just one year ago we paid $15 for Genie Plus for Magic Kingdom and multiple parks. These prices reflect more than a 50% increase in one year! Disgusting.
Genie+, is what turned Disney into nothing more than an overpriced carnival. It cheapened the experience albeit with taking hard earned cash away from guests who don’t know any better.
I realize that everyone is displeased by Genie but thank universal for starting a similar system and no one complained. It’s like the new parking system, universal had that for a long while and no one complained so we now have regular parking and premium parking. Disney didn’t invent it but their running with it ?
