Live-action movies have become very popular for Disney!

There are several live-action remakes from older films including Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, and the upcoming Lilo & Stitch and Snow White movies. Now, there’s another live-action film that Disney is working on!
During Disney’s Annual Shareholder meeting on April 3rd, Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson announced that Moana would be getting a live-action remake!

Johnson confirmed that Maui will be in the movie, and Disney announced that he “plans to return to the fictional world to set sail with Moana.” Disney later confirmed that Johnson will be “reprising his role of Maui.” The movie has lots of inspiration from his family and Maui is inspired by his late grandfather.

This movie is still VERY early in the process with lots of work to be done; however, it is currently in the works. Disney has confirmed that the film will be produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions, and executive producers include Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana. E. Jared Bush, who wrote the 2016 Moana screenplay, will also be involved.
