The TRON Lightcycle / Run roller coaster is opening on April 4th, 2023, in Magic Kingdom, and there are some other exciting updates that will come along with it.

Energy Bytes
Disney announced a few new merchandise collections that will be available when the ride opens, and there’s an interactive experience coming as well. But what we might be MOST excited about is the snack stand that’s opening near the queue for the coaster. This spot will be called Energy Bytes, and the featured menu item is something that can’t be found in many other places in Magic Kingdom: savory dumplings!
The menu at Energy Bytes features a few drinks, like the Watermelon Refresher for $5.99, which is made with Yuzu Citrus, Ginger, and Popping Candies.

There are also some sweet treats, including the Chocolate Cake Doughnut Holes for $5.79…

…and the Strawberry IceOform for $5.29. The Strawberry IceOform is an ice cream mochi treat with caramelized graham cracker crumbs and cheesecake foam.

But the STARS of the show here are those savory dumplings! These aren’t your average dumplings — there are two different flavors available, and they don’t sound like any dumplings we’ve had before.
The Beef and Broccoli Digital Dumplings are made with broccoli pesto, crispy garlic, and a ginger-soy broth. These cost $8.79.

The Buffalo Chicken Digital Dumplings are served with celery, dehydrated blue cheese, and a cayenne pepper broth. These are just a bit cheaper than the other flavor at $8.49. (Dehydrated blue cheese appears to be a staple garnish for futuristic food — it’s also featured in Space 220‘s Blue Moon Cauliflower!)

There aren’t many places to get dumplings in Magic Kingdom, although you can find some Fried Pot Stickers (filled with pork and veggies) over at Sunshine Tree Terrace. An order of those will cost you $6.99.

This unique spin on a classic snack reminds us of another snack in this park — the iconic Cheeseburger Spring Roll! Over at the Spring Roll Wagon near the entrance to Adventureland, you can find a couple of different spring roll flavors, but they might not be what you expect.

The menu changes occasionally, but we’ve seen flavors like pepperoni pizza, buffalo chicken, and even Philly cheesesteak! (The cheeseburger flavor is almost always available, although those other flavors swap out.)

Right now, there are 50th Celebration Spring Rolls here, which are filled with pastrami and Pepper Jack cheese.

Could we see rotating dumpling flavors at Energy Bytes in the future? Only time may tell. What we DO know is that we’ll be watching closely for this snack stand to open so that we can try out ALL the eats on the menu.

The dumplings are a dumb idea, the cheeseburger spring roll is terrible, the cake balls have been selling at Denny’s for $3.99 for 8 and you can be sure they will be better. The weakest link in the Disney experience has always been the food, and the broccoli and other dumplings outside Tron will be a huge failure in a building that cost $110k to construct. How about something cool and refreshing outside of Tron with a space aged edge on a hot day. That would work, dumplings are just dum…
