Let’s face it — Disney World can be expensive, so we’re regularly on the lookout for ways that you can get the best value for what you’re paying.
Whether it’s special discounts, the best items worth your money and EPCOT’s food festivals, or the best souvenirs you can get for the cost, we’ve got your back. Food can be a big part of your budget when you’re at the parks, so we’re going to break down how you can UPGRADE your meal in Disney World for under $5!
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
Pecos Bill is a quick service spot in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland that focuses mainly on Mexican-inspired cuisine. They have tacos, fajitas, nachos, and more. But, a lot of these items don’t come with everything you might typically get at your local Mexican restaurant, but luckily, you can add them on!
You can get a side of queso or guacamole for less than $5! In fact, guacamole is only $2, and queso is only $1.07, so you could even get TWO sides of guac or THREE sides of queso (yes, please) for under $5. There are also some other great add ons to your meal available, like some tortilla chips for $4.99 or some black beans for $4.49.

La Cantina de San Angel
Speaking of Mexican food, let’s head on over to EPCOT! La Cantina de San Angel is the quick service spot that you see right when you walk into the Mexico pavilion coming from the front of World Showcase. It serves, as we’re sure you’ve already guessed, Mexican food. This spot also has some GREAT upgrades!
You can get a side of rice or beans for just $2.25, and you can add on nacho cheese or sour cream at for just 75 cents! 75 cents for nacho cheese!!! And, there are also some fried plantains you can get for $4.99 to make your meal even heartier.

Woody’s Lunch Box
Woody’s Lunch Box over in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios serves some pretty tasty meals and snacks, and you can make them even better with some inexpensive upgrades! We’d suggest adding on a Lunch Box Tart to your meal so you can have a dessert when you’re done chowing down on some Totchos. They come in a variety of flavors and are only $4.29. They’re also pretty big, so you can definitely share!
You can also add on things like a side of potato barrels (AKA tater tots) for $3.49 or a side of tomato-basil soup for $3.99 (perfect for dipping that grilled cheese!). Want something a bit sweeter? You can also get a Cuties mandarin orange for just $1.99.

Plastic Cheese
Since we brought up Woody’s Lunch Box, we gotta talk about plastic cheese. Okay, it’s not *actual* plastic, that’s just our name for it. You know what it is — that bright orange gooey stuff you can find at places like baseball game concession stands! Disney usually calls it cheese sauce.
And guess what? You can get a side of cheese sauce for only $1 (!!!) at a lot of places around Disney World, like Woody’s Lunch Box, Casey’s Corner, and Backlot Express. It’s great for dipping chicken nuggets, fries, pretzels, or whatever you want! $1 for extra cheese? We’ll take 5, thanks.

Chicken Guy!
Moving over to Disney Springs, let’s talk about one of the best spots to get some chicken tenders in Disney World — Chicken Guy! This place is famous for its chicken tenders and TONS of different sauces! Speaking of sauces, that’s one of the upgrades you can get here. You get 2 sauces with your tenders, but then you can get each additional sauce for just 50 cents! So, if you can’t decide between several of the 22 options, you can get a bunch!
You can also get some great sides added on to you meal for less than $5 — get fries or slaw for $2.99, fried pickle chips for $3.99, or the Mac Daddy Mac ‘N’ Cheese for $4.49.

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor
On Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom is Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, where you can pop in for a sweet scoop to cool down in the heat. There are basic flavors here, but there are also some fun sundaes! Because of those sundaes on the menu, there are some toppings you can add onto your regular scoop.
Hot fudge and caramel toppings are just 69 cents, but our favorite is the peanut butter sauce! This isn’t always shown on the menu, but make sure you ask when you’re there, because it is available from time to time. Peanut butter on ice cream?! That’s the dream.

Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie
Les Halles is the bakery in the France pavilion in EPCOT and they have a ton of delicious French pastries and foods available. It’s a pretty popular place, where you can get sweets or a sandwich, along with some breakfast or a mimosa. But, did you know that there are some very affordable snacks here?
You can get a plain croissant for $2.95, a chocolate croissant for $3.80, or a beignet filled with chocolate and hazelnuts for $4.95. But, one of our favorites is the fresh baguettes they have here!
You can get a half for $2.25 or a full for $3.50. Yep, a big loaf of bread for less than $5. It’s a great snack to grab if you’re drinking around the world!
