Disney World has been celebrating its 50th anniversary since last October, and there have been a TON of tasty (and not so tasty) foods for the occasion!

Pressed Penny Silk Pie
We’ve seen cakes, Dole Whips, ice cream, margaritas, and even a full coursed dinner. There have been some very unique offerings, like octopus in a drink. But, one 50th anniversary treat has been going through some drama lately. Let’s break it down!
This is the Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae from Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. Yes, it’s ice cream in a bathtub!

The sundae in a bathtub
It’s actually chocolate and vanilla soft-serve, brownie pieces, hot fudge, and whipped cream topped with red, white, and blue sprinkles served in a “bathtub,” to be more specific.

A Bathtub of Dessert!
But why is it in a bathtub you may ask? Well, Uncle Orville is a character from Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress — the one sitting in a bathtub during Act 2 in the 1920s scene. You might also know him from his line. “No privacy at all around this place!”

Hey Uncle Orville!
We had this treat first back in October, and it was very tasty! It is just your basic ice cream sundae with some brownie pieces, but hey, we’re all for an ice cream sundae.

Delicious!
So, what’s the drama with the dessert right now? Well, it keeps disappearing! It was on the menu for a while at Auntie Gravity’s, and then it was gone, and then it was back, and then it was gone, and so on and so on.

Where do you keep going?!
But not only is it disappearing, but it’s changed in price! When it debuted in October, it was $16.99. When we saw it pop back up on the menu in mid-July, it was still $16.99. But, the very NEXT day, it had gone up to $17.99! What is going on?!
It would’ve made a lot more sense if it originally reappeared with the price change, but it literally happened overnight. Then, about a month later (in August), the price went back down to $16.99 once again!

What?!
So, what’s up, Disney?! Is there some kind of shortage on those souvenir bathtubs? Or, it could simply be that they didn’t have the full supplies for the whole sundae this whole time. And, the overnight price increases definitely aren’t unheard of in Disney World!
After the tubs reappeared for a bit, the bathtubs are gone again as of August 20th, 2022. We’ll keep an eye on the situation to see if/when this fan-favorite treat comes back!

The “Bathtubs” in October
If you want this sundae for yourself, you can check the online menu ahead of time to see if it’s available, but we would also suggest checking it the day of just to be sure!
