One thing you can always rely on at Disney World is how unreliable the weather is.
However, storms are common in Disney World, and it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the weather if you’re planning on heading to the parks. Weather can not only affect how your day at Disney World goes, but it can also affect how many rides — as well as entertainment options — are closed when it’s storming. Today, it looks like stormy weather may very well be on the way.
According to News 6 WKMG, the following counties in Florida are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Orange, Brevard, Volusia, Seminole, St. Lucie, Lake, Osceola, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee. Disney World is located in both Orange and Osceola Counties, so this affects the whole resort.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7PM tonight. So if you’re planning on heading to Disney World, be sure to be prepared for rainy weather (bring that rain gear!) and expect that a lot of rides will close as a result. Remember that even if it doesn’t seem that the storm is AT Disney World, if lightning has struck anywhere nearby, many rides will still close.
We recommend having a weather app handy so that you can check the situation regularly. Also, keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to monitor any ride and entertainment closures.
Also if you are headed to Disney World or headed home after your trip today, Orlando International Airport stated that the bad weather could cause flight and baggage delivery delays throughout the day.
