Can you believe it’s almost the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022?
And there are a LOT of changes coming to Disney World in the New Year. We’ll see the grand opening of the new Star Wars Hotel, the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride, and the end of the Magical Express. The Magical Express is the complimentary transportation service to and from Orlando International Airport for guests staying at Disney World resorts.
Previously, each Disney World hotel had a sign indicating where Magical Express would pick up guests to take them back to the Orlando Airport. These signs looked like this:
However, today, when we were visiting Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we noticed that this sign had been replaced with a more general “Airport Shuttle Departures” sign.
There will be two new paid shuttle services offering transportation to and from Orlando Airport and Disney World resorts. These services are Mears Connect and the Sunshine Flyer. So this is the sign you’ll want to look for at your Disney World hotel if you’re using either of those services to travel from there to the airport.
The Mears Connect standard service will cost $16 for adults and $13.50 per child for a one-way trip and $32 per adult and $27 per child for a round trip. This is, however, listed as an introductory rate. Mears Connect will start service as of January 1st, 2022.
The Sunshine Flyer will cost $17 per adult and $12.50 per child for a 1-way trip and 34 for adults and $25 per child for a round trip with kids under 2 riding free. That service starts on February 1st, 2022.
Whichever service you choose, now you know how to find your pick-up spot at your Disney World resort! We’ll continue to keep track of these services and let you know all about them as soon as they become available. So stay tuned!

A big “thumbs down” Disney!
This was the final straw for me. Disney has killed the magic that I have held my entire life. I won’t be going back.
This is truly sad to me. One of the things I’ve always loved about Disney world, was the option to sit back, relax, and enjoy the magic. We had the option to enjoy Disney magic every step of our vacation. It is the whole point of buying a complete Disney package. The Disney magical express helped build up your excitement from the moment your feet touched the ground in the Orlando Airport. I’m so sad. I feel like this is an indicator that the magic is dying and profit is priority. I hope I’m wrong.
Yup. Saw the “Mears Connect” buses around Disney yesterday. Another part of Disney has died.
