In Disney World, it’s common for rides to close temporarily to undergo routine maintenance, and Big Thunder Mountain is no exception. In 2022, the ride will close for a short refurbishment, so take a look at what we’ve learned here.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened in Frontierland of Magic Kingdom in 1980, and it’s remained a popular ride ever since. In 2022, from February 14th to the 18th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for maintenance. That’s only four days, but of course, this is subject to change.

Splash Mountain will also be closing briefly in 2022, from January 10th through February 10th. It’s important to check Disney World’s refurbishment calendar anytime you’re planning a visit so that you don’t have to miss out on a favorite ride!

Thanks for the updates. Unfortunately, people plan there trips well in advance of closure announcements, so it’s difficult time trips with no closures. In Feb 2022, we will now miss out on Splash and Everest. Hopefully nothing new will be announced.
