In 2018, Spike the Bee became one of the unofficial mascots for EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival!
This cute little guy was featured in many early Disney cartoons, and now, he’s become an icon in EPCOT! All of the love Spike the Bee has gotten seems to have inspired more visitors to flock to EPCOT. We don’t mean the human kind though. Bees have become such a presence at one EPCOT spot that Disney has had to take matters into its hands!
You know that old myth that there are no mosquitos or insects in Disney World? HA…um…not true at ALL. For a number of years now, we’ve found ourselves face to face with Spike the Bee’s extended family around Disney World. It’s not just bees either — we’ve seen yellowjackets and more!

BEES
But one spot seems to be Bee Central: The Joffrey’s Coffee in the Canada Pavilion. If you’re feeling deja vu, it’s for a reason — 2 years ago, this same booth was forced to close or delay opening a number of times due to, you guessed it, BEES. Well this time, they took action and they went so far as to print up signs for it!
Here’s our culprit. In its defense, Joffrey’s is super delicious! Bummer that no syrups or sauces are being used for now, but it makes sense. A few days ago we spotted the Cast Members here trying to keep the syrups away from guests just in case, but looks like they needed to do more than that!
Remember though EPCOT has 3 other Joffrey’s locations you can check out instead — maybe the bees don’t know about those yet? Are they Canadian bees and sticking around where they know? HMM.
While we’re thankful for bees for pollination, honey, flowers, and whatnot, we don’t wanna share our latte with them. We hope they understand! We’re always staying up to date on everything going on in the Disney Parks, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Tony’s closed their outdoor seating because of the bees. We were so disappointed, but I guess it was becoming a big problem.
Anyone who has been to Disney World lately can tell you exactly why the bees have become a pro lem.
There are particular spots in every park that WREAK of Trash Juice. W.R.E.A.K.!!!!
And bees flock to those places.
So how about Bob Paycheck spend more money on custodial staff and actually cleaning the park.
Lately they have all been just dirty, stinky, and slack.
I remember a day when if you drop a napkin on the ground, a janitor for pick it up within 20 sec.
NOT ANY MORE.
