There are a few Disney World rides you can generally count on to have a longer wait time, no matter what time or day it is.
Avatar Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of those rides and it’s not super surprising because how else do you get the chance to ride a banshee through Pandora?? But today we made a Flight of Passage discovery that’s going to blow your mind, and we’re still shocked!
Avatar Flight of Passage is located in Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we’ve frequently seen wait times of over an hour long for this ride. Recently, we’ve observed the wait times going down a bit for popular rides in Disney World, and when we saw the wait time for Flight of Passage at 34 minutes not too long ago we weren’t sure that it could be topped. Well, folks, it happened. Flight of Passage currently has a 15 MINUTE WAIT. But there’s more!
When we talked to a Cast Member, they told us we could probably just walk right on because there was practically no one in line. So naturally, we had to try it. The line queue was EMPTY. When we got to the end of the line, the few people in line were immediately transferred to boarding groups to get on the ride.

As we were walking off the ride, a Cast Member even offered us a chance to ride it AGAIN! We asked if this has ever happened, and the Cast Member said the wait time for Flight of Passage has been so low recently that there’s been a few times they’ve been allowing guests to ride back-to-back. Another Cast Member said, “I never thought I’d see this happen.” US TOO.
If you happen to be in Disney World today, you might want to head over to Animal Kingdom and run straight to Avatar Flight of Passage for this extremely rare opportunity to walk right onto the ride! Keep reading DFB for all your Disney World news!

It begs the question, why is this happening? Theories?
Is this today (Sunday September 5th 2021)? I would have thought Labor Day weekend would be busy?
Wow, that is incredible. Obviously attendance must be off substantially to cause this to happen. Are the parks busy?
Actually, during my trip this past January/February 2021, I saw something similar — the Wait Time was pasted as 30 minutes, but just kept walking non-stop to the end of the line & was immediately put in a boarding group that was mounting their Banshee — essentially a “walk on” because just the line walk from end to end is probably 10 minutes or more… at least for me! Now, they didn’t offer me a chance at back-to-back rides, but I’m betting that once I exited, I could have returned immediately.
Two possible reasons why Pandora has a 30 minute or less wait on Stand By Line.
1. Most schools are open
2. Most important question to ask is HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE PARK?
With Covid spreading so quickly in Florida particularly Orange County home of Disney World people are afraid to come to Disney World. Empty Hotel Rooms will cause Disney to make changes to help guests and not make it more expensive to visit.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT RIGHT AFTER SEPTEMBER 11, DISNEY OFFERED BUY 4 Days AT ANY DISNEY HOTEL AND GET SEVEN DAYS . GREAT DISNEY OFFER BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS AFRAID TO FLY. DISNEY SHOULD OFFER THE SAME BUY 4 DAYS GET 7 DAYS OFFER THRU DECEMBER 2022. What do you think about this?
@Jeff Because everyone’s waiting until October 1 to go.
@Jeff… I believe it is due to a combination of it being a historically slow time of year and people just waiting the extra month for the 50th anniversary to start.
Eric, sounds like a fun experience!
Ken, they’ve been very quiet lately…
Larjani, this was 8/30/21.
Wow, that is incredible
This is very interesting,….
He constantly kept talking about this.
