Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a unique ride in Disney World since it’s a real wildlife preserve! Full of live animals who are free to roam, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience at the Disney parks.
However, with live animals comes unpredictability! Today, we noticed something at Kilimanjaro Safaris.
If you took a look at wait times for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you might notice something unusual…Kilimanjaro Safaris is closed! This happens every now and then, usually when the animals block the road, but of course we had to go and investigate! Here’s what we found.
We were in line for the ride and about to board the safari when the ride stopped. We thought it was a short delay at first, but then Cast Members told us an animal was blocking the road. The Cast Member said that the animals are okay, but no guests were allowed on the preserve at the time.
Cast Members offered people in line passes to come back to the ride later, since the ride will likely open after lunch today. So since we were next to board, a pass for the attraction was loaded into our My Disney Experience.
Animal Kingdom is full of surprises, because animals can be very unpredictable. We’ll keep you updated on the situation, so stay tuned for more!

What do you think of this delay at Kilimanjaro Safaris? Let us know in the comments!
It sounds like an animal passed away. I used to be a driver, and they’d never close that long for an animal stop.
I hope the animals are okay nothing is wrong Disney takes very good care of them they have a vet to make sure they are in great shape . I give them all the respect in the world to take on this kind of adventure it is not cheap to be able to do it .
