Even though it’s still a few months away, we’re gearing up for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort!
We’re marking our calendars to check out the new fireworks shows, the special character costumes, and all the stunning decorations coming soon. And now, it looks like there’s going to be a special dining experience as well!
According to a note on the Disney World website, a special 50th Anniversary dining experience is coming to California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. At this time, the restaurant is unavailable for bookings after October 2nd.
Disney hasn’t yet released any details on this experience specifically, but we’ll be on the lookout. The anniversary kicks off on October 1st, so it seems that this special dining offering will be starting a little later than that.
Stay tuned to DFB for all the updates on Disney World’s 50th Anniversary and all the dining news from the theme parks and resorts!

What are you most looking forward to about the 50th Anniversary?
Your headline says new dining experience is coming, then the article says there’s nothing to report yet…why report this? Why now wait until there’s something to report?
So interested in this !
With Victoria and Albert’s still closed, we were hoping to celebrate a milestone anniversary in November and California Grill was our second choice. I hope it opens up by then for reservations. Otherwise, where else on Disney property is there for a nice romantic dinner where you can dress up without feeling overdressed?
Cindy, Citricos and Narcoossee’s at Grand Floridian are good choices for places you can dress up and fit right in. Narcoossee’s is right on the water of Seven Seas Lagoon and has a long-distance view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks as well, so that might be a nice treat if you’re dining late. Jiko is a wonderful option as well (particularly if you love wine — they’ve got an incredible collection). You might look into Flying Fish and Yachtsman Steakhouse as well. I hope these options help. Happy anniversary in advance. 🙂
Thanks for your suggestions, Sarah, but the last time we were at Narcoossee’s we felt overdressed compared to most everyone there who were dressed pretty casually and there were quite a bit of families with young children. It was also very noisy. We were hoping for a quiet evening. Perhaps we should have opted for a much later dinner when most families were putting their kids down for the night.
I’ll take a look at your other suggestions, though. They might work better.
Cindy, good luck finding the right fit!
