This year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled, but the NEW After Hours BOO BASH event is set to bring some Halloween fun to the parks.
Earlier today, Disney released information about the dates and pricing of the BOO BASH tickets. But, just how do the price of these tickets compare to the previous price of tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? We’re breaking it down for you here!
Let’s start with a quick peek at what BOO BASH offers in comparison to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. BOO BASH will give guests the chance to see Halloween decorations, ride Disney attractions, listen to party music, and even get candy, much like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
But, there are a number of differences between the events. One of the biggest differences has to do with the length of the party. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary has historically run from 7PM to midnight, making it a 5-hour event. BOO BASH, on the other hand, will be a 3-hour event generally taking place on event nights from 9PM to midnight.
But according to Disney, “Disney After Hours BOO BASH tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM without the need for a day park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.”

Now, let’s take a look at ticket prices. We’ll start with a look at the prices for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event nights from 2019. In 2019, ticket prices varied throughout the run of the event (with prices generally increasing as Halloween approached).
Tickets in 2019 began at $79 in advance for adults and $74 in advance for children. Tickets for Halloween night, October 31st, were priced at $135 for adults and $130 for children. Same-day tickets were also sold at the gate depending on availability.
The prices for BOO BASH tickets, however, look pretty different. Tickets for BOO BASH start at $129 – $139, plus tax for August/September nights. If you’re hoping to go in October, tickets for BOO BASH start at $159 – $169, plus tax. Want to be at BOO BASH on Halloween night (October 31st)? That’ll set you back $199, plus tax.
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members will, however, be able to get a $10 discount for event nights in August and September.
Overall, it looks like there have been some pretty significant increases in price for BOO BASH tickets as compared to Not-So-Scary tickets, despite the BOO BASH event being offered for LESS time.
For Halloween night, tickets for BOO BASH appear to be $64 MORE EXPENSIVE for adults than Halloween night tickets for Not-So-Scary in 2019 ($135 in 2019 for Not-So-Scary, $199 for BOO BASH) and tickets appear to be $69 more expensive for kids ($130 in 2019 for Not-So-Scary, $199 for BOO BASH).
Tickets for BOO BASH’s other event nights are also more expensive than the tickets for Not-So-Scary. The least expensive ticket for adults in 2019 for Not-So-Scary was $79. For BOO BASH, the cheapest tickets appear to be priced at $129. That’s a difference of $50!
What do you think? Would you pay these prices to attend BOO BASH? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

No been to Mickey’s not so scary since it started has always been a great time. Will not pay the price their asking for the boo bash simply ridiculous. We will be there in October will be doing something else
I was considering boo bash for our upcoming Sept trip. However, with the price being more than the cost of simply adding an extra day to our ticket package,
I can’t really justify it for a 3 hour event, add to the fact that the kids can’t truly interact with the characters. It will be a pass for our family.
Unclear why we would spend $400-$500 to take our daughter for a very limited experience. I will admit, I am biased by the fact that dressing up in costumes and taking pictures with special characters is not a priority for us, we would key in on the entertainment and parade and fireworks. But in 3 hours, how many pictures could you actually get?
I had tickets to the MNSSHP last year (which was cancelled) for an October date ($122 including tax). I expected prices to be similar to the MNSSHP, but not this much of an increase considering a shorter event with no shows or fireworks. Some food and beverage is included, but this will be a tough decision whether to attend or not! Hmmm . . . . .
Totally torn. Had to reschedule our vacation last October due to COVID and of course had tickets to the cancelled MNSSHP (would have been a first time for the party). Going in Sept this year and with the price increase, late (not kid friendly hours) and lessened entertainment I’m just not sure that it’s worth it.
ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR MINDS???
Well, I’d planned on it, since we were going to be in Disney for three weeks over Halloween and I have a four year old. But they’re really going to have to up the game for those prices! Wow!
Thanks for the heads up!
I’ve been waiting for the details to be announced, but now that they’re announced, I have to say “No way!”
The price increase is ridiculous! Sure, it’s “aligned” with regular park admission, but if you’re already paying for park admission that day, it’s just crazy to spend another $119-$199 more for 3 hours! How many mickey bars could I eat during that period?
Sorry but that big of a price increase with less items to enjoy isn’t worth it. A slight increase ok but 50 dollars more!
Disney is getting out of control. It is time to boycott them.I have always been a Disney fan but they are really turning me off lately. I am going to hallowscream at Busch gardens for $29.99 per person from 7p- midnite and I can enter the park at 5pm
Out freaking rageous. I know Disney lost a lot of money during this pandemic but so did the average mom and dad. I love Disney and always will but I would NEVER spend this kind of money for 3 hours.
Wow! Disney has gall to be charging $50-60 more for much less of an experience. I hope everyone sees this as an insult and boycotts those Boo Bash events. That’s the only way to tell Disney that you can only squeeze the fans so much.
Too bad the price means we’re skipping the boo bash this year. Just doesn’t make sense for us for three hours and a more reduced experience.
We went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Holoween Party in late September 2018, paid $75 per person and I think it was well worth it for the experience and extra time in the park. Would never pay as much as they are asking for Boo Bash considering you get a lot less for your money.
Current management is surely out to kill the goose on this one. No for me and my family…
DVC Member since 2003 BCV&BWK that is quite a price hike. Been to MMNSSH multiple times. But this one I give a pass and will not attend. I will be on property in late September, I will enjoy the parks but will not pay that price for a Mickey bar and some candy. How much more can we expect to see. Magic Express gone, fast pass gone, dining gone, magic bands gone. And now prices that make you wonder what is next. Sorry only tricks from Mr. Capek. Bring back the wonder of Disney magic for all of us.
Briefly considered it but 3 adults @ $159.0~ each equals enough to go out for 2-3 NICE dinners.
Not to mentioned last time we did the Halloween party it poured all evening. Remember non-refundable. I think this time we’ll pass
We have been visiting Disney world every year from the U.K. for the past 8 years. We now have a 6 yo, and a 13 month old, and have noticed the prices getting more and more expensive every year. (Even with factoring in the kids and exchange rate).
Not sure how much longer we will be able to justify visiting Disney when we come to Florida. We loved Mickeys not so scary Halloween, and the Christmas party, but these prices are getting silly now. It’s just not good value anymore and the competition is looking more attractive.
Prices are way too high for what this event is. Not worth it. Maybe next year.
I’m aware it’s an “after hours event” vs a party but there’s nothing extra or special like in previous after hours events. It will be limited capacity regardless. Not waiting in line for rides isn’t a big deal to me
Disney for the wealthy…. Families KEEP OUT!
That’s way too much to pay for an event without a parade (as the cavalcades are just one float parades), without fireworks, with less characters, and less overall time. I had this hope that they would lower costs this year because it’s a smaller event. I was saddened it went the opposite way. I was thinking of going as part of our October trip but not at these prices. Also: I think the timing of these events coinciding with the 50th anniversary also made prices jump as they are expecting a very crowded October this year. Still, not happy.
Yes, still planning on going. My family loves starting Halloween in August with at Disneyworld. After the year we had it will be a great addition to a well deserved trip.. even if it is a bit pricey..still can’t wait!
Does it come with a steak and champagne dinner?
60+% more expensive
40% less time
No character interactions
No fireworks
No parade
No main stage entertainment
But hey, we still get free candy.
It is a hard pass for me and my family.
Halloween is our favorite time of year! If we can book a trip and get tickets, WE ARE IN!!! ?
I had been thinking about buying Boo Bash tickets since we’ll be going to Disney World in October for the first time in several years. But those prices are way higher than I was expecting, so I don’t think we’ll be going.
It’s a pass for me. We will be there Oct. 18th for a week but no parade, fireworks etc… not worth it. It’s like going to a restaurant and ordering your favorite steak and getting a grilled cheese and being charged 30% more for it. Crazy!
Trying to make up for lost revenue? Disney needs to dial back the greed. Higher price for less hours and less entertainment
We go every year to Christmas party but if this is an omen we will skip and do resort hopping instead
Absolutely insane, how are they gonna charge more and offer less? The Boo Bash should by all means be cheaper than MNSSHP, not $800 for a family of four on Halloween is just bonkers. Thanks, but I’ll find something else to do Disney.
The price is on par with regular After Hours hard-ticket events. WE LOVE AFTER HOURS. If they keep capacity as low as they usually do, it is well worth the price. You literally walk on rides and get as much popcorn, ice cream and soda as you want.
Planning on going to Boo Bash!!!! Don’t go to Disney that often so paying a little extra to an event is definitely worth it.
We had tickets to go to MNSSHP last September for the 1st time and of course it was canceled. We will be going to Universal studios for Labor day weekend this year and I am going to the Boo Bash if I can get tix. I look at it like this, I’m not going to DW during this trip so I will not have already paid for park admission. If we can get in at 7 and enjoy the rides, Halloween decorations and snacks etc for the party it’s worth it for me.
Michael ATL..
We were there in 2019 and enjoyed seeing everyone in costumes and the parade. We will be arriving on October 31st for a week but we will not be attending the Boo Bash. The price is almost doubled and there are four in our party.
I did the math, and for us to go on the night when we are in WDW, the price would be about $800 for the 5 of us! Way too much. Unless it was extremely limited to under 10,000 guests, full sized candy bars given out, and more than ice cream given out, what justifies this cost?
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..
It was already a bummer that the Boo Bash was going to be a watered down version of MNSSHP. But $50-65 more per person for less than what was at MNSSHP?? What are they thinking?! Their decisions team needs to seriously reconsider their priorities.
Goes with the “take away more, charge more” theme Disney has been using for the last year. Super bummed.
I plan to go until I heard the price and lack of entertainment and time in the park. Disney is no longer for the middle class family. It is for the wealth. Very disappointed in them especially during A pandemic ?
I know Disney has to make up some money for their losses during the pandemic but this is NOT the way to do it. Feels like price gouging to me. Will not be going at these prices but I’m sad to be missing out. Haven’t missed a MNSSHP for a long time ☹️
Absolutely not. Those price increases are RIDICULOUS. The new CEO is awful. All he cares about is money, money, money, and not the customers. How could a small child stay up that late? Is he trying to appeal to a totally different demographic here? He’s certainly not making Disney World family friendly. He can afford to limit the capacity if he’s charging that much more. I have always been a huge Disney fan, but I am totally disgusted – Disney is quickly losing its magic for me.
I agree with all the people that said the price increase was to much, but if they held the attendance to 25% or less, I might rethink it.
It seems to me as though Disney is being very short sighted in presuming they can charge anything and people will continue to show up. At some point, they will price themselves out of the market. And that may not be in the distant future what with raising the price on many things and discontinuing perks like the Magical Express.
Really disappointed with the way Disney is heading. Elimination experiences and increasing prices. I thought Walt wanted this place to be a magical place for everyone to visit. But now, especially with the new CEO, it’s seems that they don’t agree with that and want to cater to people who can afford to spend without thinking about it and eliminate the guest who have to save and may have to watch their budget while in Disney. It’s a business, I get that, but the reason we thought Disney was different than the rest was because your lead to believe that Disney World was about being a magical place for everyone. Young and old. Wealthy or not. Everyone that went was treated equally wonderful. Not anymore. I know people will disagree with this but it’s just my opinion. I wish I was wrong but more and more Disney is proving me right.
We LOVED MNSSHP in 2019. I’m upset that this year it’s costing us a great deal more with much less to offer . With that being said, we will still attend. We loved riding the rides with little to no wait times. The overlays and unexpected added thrills to a few of our favorite rides let us experience Magic Kingdom in a new and exciting way.
Almost double the price for less than half the benefits. Sorry, this will be a no go for me and mine.
The price increase is egregious enough but what really puts me off is the later hours mean my young kids (and this tired mama) will not enjoy it. Way more expensive for a more limited event that is less family friendly time wise- is a no for me dog.
There was a time when special events were a great value and the park felt empty. I can recall paying around $50-$60 for a Christmas party ticket in the early 2000s. Pricing and attendance have both continued to increase since that time. The pricing for this event is absurd considering it is only three hours and is less of an experience…no parade, no fireworks, etc. I wish everyone would take a stance and boycott purchasing tickets and then perhaps Disney management might get the point that they have pushed to boundaries of pricing.
No way! This amount is crazy, but I think Disney is seeing if the market will accept it. If people don’t go, than they will bring prices down, but if people do go at those higher prices…….it will be acceptable. They are
testing to see if people are willing to pay those prices , since people are excited about being out and about again. Time will tell.
The Boo Bash is now 2 hours less than the MNSSH event.
Yet It $$$ costs more!
Hmmm…
Way too expensive for a shorter event. Once again Disney prices go up and you get less. Sad. You’d think coming off the last year they’d do something at a reasonable price. I’ll probably pass on this one. Let’s see what they come up with for the holidays!!
Absolutely not! Our family will be there in September but will go nowhere near the boo bash. This insane price increase for a pared down event feels like a calculated exploitation of pent up demand. It’s a deeply disappointing choice after a very hard year of forced separation.
