This year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled, but the NEW After Hours BOO BASH event is set to bring some Halloween fun to the parks.
Earlier today, Disney released information about the dates and pricing of the BOO BASH tickets. But, just how do the price of these tickets compare to the previous price of tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? We’re breaking it down for you here!
Let’s start with a quick peek at what BOO BASH offers in comparison to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. BOO BASH will give guests the chance to see Halloween decorations, ride Disney attractions, listen to party music, and even get candy, much like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
But, there are a number of differences between the events. One of the biggest differences has to do with the length of the party. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary has historically run from 7PM to midnight, making it a 5-hour event. BOO BASH, on the other hand, will be a 3-hour event generally taking place on event nights from 9PM to midnight.
But according to Disney, “Disney After Hours BOO BASH tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM without the need for a day park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.”

Now, let’s take a look at ticket prices. We’ll start with a look at the prices for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event nights from 2019. In 2019, ticket prices varied throughout the run of the event (with prices generally increasing as Halloween approached).
Tickets in 2019 began at $79 in advance for adults and $74 in advance for children. Tickets for Halloween night, October 31st, were priced at $135 for adults and $130 for children. Same-day tickets were also sold at the gate depending on availability.
The prices for BOO BASH tickets, however, look pretty different. Tickets for BOO BASH start at $129 – $139, plus tax for August/September nights. If you’re hoping to go in October, tickets for BOO BASH start at $159 – $169, plus tax. Want to be at BOO BASH on Halloween night (October 31st)? That’ll set you back $199, plus tax.
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members will, however, be able to get a $10 discount for event nights in August and September.
Overall, it looks like there have been some pretty significant increases in price for BOO BASH tickets as compared to Not-So-Scary tickets, despite the BOO BASH event being offered for LESS time.
For Halloween night, tickets for BOO BASH appear to be $64 MORE EXPENSIVE for adults than Halloween night tickets for Not-So-Scary in 2019 ($135 in 2019 for Not-So-Scary, $199 for BOO BASH) and tickets appear to be $69 more expensive for kids ($130 in 2019 for Not-So-Scary, $199 for BOO BASH).
Tickets for BOO BASH’s other event nights are also more expensive than the tickets for Not-So-Scary. The least expensive ticket for adults in 2019 for Not-So-Scary was $79. For BOO BASH, the cheapest tickets appear to be priced at $129. That’s a difference of $50!

I’ve attended the Not So Scary Halloween Party three times and enjoyed it but it wasn’t all that great! This price increase for less time makes no sense and I won’t spend that to attend. I hope that enough people stay away that they make changes for the Very Merry Christmas Party, whatever that ends up being.
I’m definitely with everyone else this is way too expensive, I think if you are staying on property have a ticket for the day it’s absolutely crazy to add over 500 dollars more for any amount of boo fun oh by the way I didn’t mention the money for food that you already have spent .
It seems as though Disney is pricing out family fun ,it’s truly sad ?
We are going, and I can’t wait. People are comparing price to MNSSHP, but prices are exactly in line with past After Hours events. I’ve attended them and loved them. I don’t get to Disney often, so for me the hefty price is worth seeing the park after dark with short ride times and other perks (all you can eat Mickey bars ?)
I am assuming that less tickets will be sold each night than MNSSHP, since the selling point of After Hours events is low crowds.
Granted, I’m going with a party of adults. I don’t think I’d bring little ones.
That’s a big no for me! These prices are ridiculous. Taking away more of the experience and extras but charging more? Insane!
The astonishing and apparent disconnect from Disney is they say you don’t have pay for an additional day’s park admission yet this is the price of a FULL day, so you are paying for a day’s park admission but only getting 3 hours to limited crowds, and limited attractions, and then an add’l 2 hours that includes all the rides and all the crowds.
I will love to see this as your Instagram poll. And to see how many people stick to their No. Year after year Disney increases something and people say it’s too expensive yet people still go.
I love Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party and have been many times. But this event? No Boo-to-You parade, no stage shows (like Hocus Pocus), maybe no fireworks, and no up close with the rare characters, I would think the price should be comparable or less than MNSSHP.
I am an annual passholder, DVC member and stock holder and I will not be attending this outrageously priced event for 3 hours……even with the getting in early at 7:00 with all the other crowds during the day this definitely doesn’t seem worth the price Disney is asking. Especially with no Boo to You Parade, Hocus Pocus castle stage show, interactions with characters, possibly no fireworks, etc., etc. etc……this doesn’t seem worth it, but of course people will still pay this crazy price for 3 hours and if they have small children who don’t normally stay up that late will be cranky and can’t imagine would have a good time. With that being said all the people that pay this ridiculous price can kiss what we know as MNSSHP good bye because Disney will not bring it back as it was. So sad to see this, because we would go just about every year to MNSSHP and loved it, you got in at 4:00 and party started at 7:00 until midnight with awesome fireworks and character interactions, yummy treats, the Boo to You Parade and so much more that won’t be happening at this Boo Bash, and it’s costing more. I have been going to Disney for over 46 years, when I moved to Florida, but the more I see them take away the sadder I become and the Disney Magic seems to be fading!
They (WDW) have been slowly (B/4 Covid-19) really have been trying to cut out the middleman!
We had a 2018, then a 2019 trip scheduled & canceled because of my health. Then the 2020 trip was canceled because of Covid-19
Now it looks like we won’t be able too go down ANYTIME SOON?!!!
I’m not too sure if #1 we will be able to afford it & #2 Who wants to PAY MORE FOR LESS?!
I’m starting to BELIEVE we (my wife and I) just aren’t who Walt Disney wants coming to spend 7-10 days with them.
What a REAL shame, because I miss the yesterdays of WDW
I think these prices are absolutely ridiculous. We will be there Oct. 28-Nov.18 and I was really looking forward to MNSSHP, but for the amount of time you get and the absence of the best attractions, it sure is not worth it to me. I deliberately scheduled my trip for these dates to catch all the Halloween decorations and the party as well as being there for the Christmas decorations and MVMCP. Did the Christmas party in 2019 and rally enjoyed it but if this years will be anything like Halloween forget it, I will not be wasting the money.
It makes me so sad ? to see that Disney is just out for the money. It’s been a tough year for all of us not just Disney. I don’t understand how Disney can think a family can afford the Boo Bash at all now. Prices hikes plus cut backs are just not right. So much for the family image you all want to maintain.
i think there should be some kind of discount for these tickets if you have already spent money on a daytime ticket. i would like to see it, but they are saying no parades or meeting so why would i pay extra for that.
This makes me so sad. I was planning on flying to FL this October for the 50th and the Boo Bash, but the ticket prices for the Boo Bash are making me rethink the entire trip. There is no way I’d pay double for HALF the fun! It makes me sick that Disney is passing on their losses to the consumer. Because they have to restrict attendance, they charge us double for half the time and half the entertainment? I don’t think so. If enough of us say NO to this price gouging, they won’t try to get away with it again. This pricing caters to the affluent and takes advantage of people with less who will sacrifice to pay it because they love Disney so much. It just sickens me to see Disney stoop this low to make a buck. The corporate greed at work isn’t pretty.
Disney just went through a year with significantly reduced revenue so is anyone surprised they are going to try to make up for this – it is a business they need to survive and grow. There is an easy solution – this is not a required event if you dont perceive the value then you are not required to make the purchase. Does any one really think that somehow universal and other theme parks are somehow only thinking of the consumer. Here is how disney will know the price is too high – when people don’t buy it . But if disney cuts the attendence by 10% but raises prices by 15% the parks are less crowded and they still make $ there is no shame in making $ on entertainment – this is not a drug (although considering my mania for it it may be) or a roof over your head.
We are going in Aug the thought of doing halloween in aug (esp coming from northeast) seems really strange – i agree that the value does not seem to be there but my daughter….
Tickets went on sale today for people with hotel reservations and the system crashed!! That’s how much the price is a deterent!! My TA has been on the phone most of the day and couldn’t get through, just unbelievable! Disney’s procurement systems can’t handle the demand they create or should I say the pent up demand the pandemic has created!!
The price increase is ridiculous on it’s own. Then throw in a 2 hour cut as well??? Where is the increase of services that would offset such a change? I find it repugnant at how WDW just keeps taking more and offering less and less. Why does this seem ok to anybody?
