When you go to Disney World every day, you often see evacuations happen, both on rides and in buildings.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
We’ve seen it at the PeopleMover, on Splash Mountain, and even at Kali River Rapids. It happens for a variety of reasons, but we always want to keep you updated on these situations! And today, it happened at a Disney World restaurant!
We had just picked up our Mobile Order at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe when we were evacuated from the restaurant.

Got our order, but had to leave
Cast Members haven’t shared why the restaurant was evacuated, but we did hear the fire alarm and lights were flashing.

Those who were in the lower level with Sonny Eclipse were evacuated through there, rather than back up through the rest of the restaurant. The bottom part with Sonny Eclipse was blocked off.

Empty
Cast Members were also doing their best to work with guests who had Mobile Orders, but had not yet received their food.

Evacuated
It’s not just Cosmic Ray’s that’s been evacuated, though. The whole building is currently closed off from guests, which includes Star Traders and the bathrooms there.

Bathrooms are closed
The PeopleMover also has no people on it because it runs through that building.

Empty PeopleMover
We also saw two Cast Members headed over to check the situation out.

Electricians
Update: Since this post was written, everything at the building was reopened, EXCEPT for Cosmic Ray’s. We’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated!

My husband and I were evacuated from Spaceship Earth a few years ago when the ride stopped. After waiting for a very long time watching the chariot over and over, a cast member walked us off the ride.
So what happens with that? Do all the people eating leave their food there, or do they bring it with them? Are you allowed to eat it somewhere else with all the mask guidelines? Do you just get reimbursed for it? With as hard as people have been saying it is to eat at Disneyworld right now, it seems like this would be really frustrating!! You hear about ride evacuations periodically, but I never thought about restaurant evacs.
Those bathrooms in that building were NASTY last time we went. I couldn’t find a single stall that wasn’t filthy or had toilet paper clogging the toilet. We turned around and went to the ones by space mountain. Not a huge loss, in my opinion, that the ones in the Cosmic Ray’s building were closed!
A few years ago my wife and I got stuck on carousel of progress for bout 45 minutes. The music played over and over . It was a Great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
Disney acted fast to get people out of the building in case it was something on fire customers are not at risk . Two electricians going on to the building probably something shorted out and set the fire alarm off . Disney doesn’t take any risks with anyone it is a very safe park .
I’m not positive but I think there are separate bathrooms inside Cosmic Ray’s other than those outdoor ones. And I usually find them clean (the inside ones).
Toni, you’re correct that there are also indoor restrooms at Cosmic Ray’s.
