Mask mandates and health and safety policies are changing all of the time.
If it sometimes feels like it’s hard to stay on top of all the developments, you’re not alone! The latest mask update comes from the Florida Health Secretary and Surgeon General, which suggests that full vaccinated Floridians can go in public without a mask.
According to USA Today, Florida Health Secretary and Surgeon General Scott Rivkees is now saying that fully vaccinated people can now mask-free in public.
Although the CDC has changed its recommendations about wearing masks outdoors recently, they still recommend wearing your mask in public spaces deepening on the situation.
USA Today says that Rivkees considered many factors when making this statement including that nine-million people have been vaccinated in Florida, and that scientific studies show that COVID-19 vaccines protect people from the virus and decrease the severity.
Rivkees also mentioned that Florida has a sufficient supply of vaccines so every eligible Floridian can be vaccinated.
Jason Salemi, an associate professor of epidemiology in the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida, said “I think ultimately, I’d just want some added specificity as to the recommendations being set forth by the State Surgeon General.” He then asked, “But what happens when fully vaccinated people…go into indoor public settings where there are obviously people from many different households and where there may be many unvaccinated people?”
Additionally, this new order also encourages all state government offices to return to in-person business.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on mask mandates, health and safety policies, and coronavirus updates that can affect your Disney trip.

But how to I pove that i
mfully vaccinated?
Yay!! So since there should be enough vaccines for everyone, then everyone should be able to decide what risks they want to take, vaccinated or not. We are an open and free society where we should be able to decide on our own to take any reasonable risks in the pursuit of happiness, including enjoying time at the “happiest place on earth” without restrictions!
Absolutely Cindy! Glad to see people that love freedom on here!
So … if you are fully vaccinated you can walk into Disney without a mask ? Sorry if I read that wrong. I’m sure I did. And are we allowed to walk around Disney without a mask with or without the vaccine at this time ?
1000% agree with Cindy!! Not sure how it can be the “happiest place on earth” or how I can have a “magical time” in the Florida heat and humidity with a stupid mask on!!
Seeing as Disney is private property I’m guessing this news has little to no effect on mask policy in regards to Disney properties. Hopefully though this will encourage them to move to going maskless by September.
I really believe that all common sense has disappeared over this past 14+ months. I don’t need the government telling me if and when I should wear a mask. Or if I meet yo be concerned if someone is vaccinated or not. We all have immunities people, it high time we started using them ?
And what will stop people from lying about being vaccinated because they just don’t want to wear a mask, thus potentially endangering lives?
Children are unable to yet be vaccinated, and since Disney participates in Make-A-Wish, where many kids are immunocompromised from cancer treatments, I hope that adults who visit Disney will be responsible and get vaccinated, or if not will continue to wear masks to protect everyone at the happiest place on earth. I get that its hot, but my husband and I just went, were fully vaccinated, and kept our masks on, so EVEYONE can be safe. Its doable. We are hoping that vaccines are approved for kids 12 – 16 soon, so we can safely plan a full family vacation ASAP.
If you are fully vaccinated like my wife and I you have a card to prove it . It is on the honor system if you lie you should be a shame . They can find out through the government web who is vaccinated the date and time 1 or 2 doses . The national guards at the sight was putting all the info. You had to show ID to make sure it was yourself . There will be other places are still wearing mask . It depends the state of county you are from or going to . Go and be vaccinated so you will not have to worry about it anymore .
From what I understand (from following the science), you can still get and transmit Covid even though you have the vaccine, so what sense does any of this make. Either let everyone go maskless or everyone should wear one. I’m for maskless.
I agree with Cindy. At what point will it be decided that people who decide to NOT get vaccinated are on their own in managing their personal virus safety? I didn’t get vaccinated so I can keep the non-vaccinated safe. I got vaccinated so I can protect my health , return to normal, including not wearing a mask. There’s a risk to living. If you choose to not get vaccinated don’t depend on me to keep you safe by making me continue to wear a mask. If you don’t want to get vaccinated and are worried about variants then you stay home or you wear the mask when you go out. The rest of us will return to doing our version of normal. I applaud this change in Florida’s mask mandate.
Florida, once again, eschews science. There are reasons the CDC and other health agencies have a different recommendations. It’ll be interesting to see what WDW decides to do with this.
Heather when we got our vaccinations we were given a card/certificate showing dates and type of shot. They also emailed us and I took a picture of verification. I would think that information would be enough. Can’t wait to come back to parks will be there in September.
CDC WHO Surgeon General MIT and several studies say mask are not needed outside. Hopefully Disney will follow the science and end this ridiculous mask mandate. People can still wear a mask if it makes them feel good.
Heather when your vaccinated you are given a card showing you have been vaccinated. Just make a copy of your card and keep it in your wallet as proof. I am so so happy my husband and I are both vaccinated. Feels like a weight off your shoulders !
I take offense to being asked if I am vaccinated, I feel this is a violation of my HIPPA and Health rights. I am a nurse and never have we had to publicly disclose our health issues to strangers and I am not about to start now. It is not required by law that we have to answer this query and I will continue to refuse to answer this question. Its between me and my doctor until such time, It isnt – and I doubt it will become law that we have disclose our personal health information.
To be accurate: Disney is a private company and is still requiring face masks. Furthermore, Mayor Demings of Orange County, Florida (where WDW is) still has a mask mandate. Bottom line, indoor and outdoor in WDW, masks are still required.
Jacqueline, Disney’s mask policy remains in place for all guests.
My whole family is fully vaccinated we all wear masks because in my state New Jersey Is moved very slow . People got 1 shot but did not go back for the 2 nd . Some people said they would not get it at all it is there choice but not so smart . There will be a time everyone will have to prove it depends on the science of how many people are getting exposed and sick . Florida and Texas great job no mandate masks in some cases getting back to some normal .
